This team doesn't belong in the NIT either. They can't beat anyone. The Big Ten should send Iowa packing and bring in a school with a real athletic program.

This team doesn't even belong in the CBI, but unfortunately we'll be in the Big Dance and embarrass ourselves. Making the dance will be something we'll hear again and again the next several years from GB and Fran apologists to justify why the program continues to smolder under his watch.
If you look at Lunardi's bracket, there's no way this team isn't in the NCAA tournament. They will be in, but the question will be how much the committee will place on momentum. Iowa could end up in the play in game like they did that one year when Marble played. Everyone was surprised they were in the play in game, but the committee valued the last 10 games of the year.
We may beat an above average team in a 8/9 or 7/10 game, but yeah if we get past that is when we'd embarrass ourselves against actually good teams.
Duke without Zion would still bury us by 35.

It really doesnt matter to me that we lose in the first game of the NCAA or the NIT. It will only matter to the guy that has a career scoring night beating us.
They can't guard and they don't rebound well. And on the other end they have nobody that reliably breaks the defense down, makes plays for himself or others. In March, you pretty much need that guy. You definitely need to be good to great defensively and surely need to be able to rebound.

They aren’t winning the dance, but I don’t think anybody has ever though they were winning the dance. With good matchups they could at least win their first game though, which would be a dramatic step forward from last year (and good enough for me - I know I know, I settle for mediocrity)
The fact the Pac 12 is so bad opens up 2 or 3 spots.
That said Lipscomb lost today that is not good. If the likes of Wofford, Buffalo, Wofford, lose those turn into 2 bid leagues

There are just lot of average teams this year.

I've been saying the whole time that if you're willing to take this to the bank that they don't make the tournament, then how much are you prepared to lose if they do make it?........
Not sure they can win their first game in the B1G. March is different. Must rebound, must defend, and must be able to create off the dribble. Iowa does none of these well. Can they do two of three? Sure. And defense and rebounding will keep you in most games.
It's simply amazing that Fran can't re-engineer his philosophy to prioritize defense and rebounding more. We all watch them closely. And we all are well aware that these two fundamental aspects of winning basketball Iowa is inconsistent at best, and usually just not very good.
And these coaches get paid amazingly well.
Team is already playing like the seas is over. Pretty sad. Would nor be surprised to see a loss 1st game in the tournament. Today was just ridiculous.
I said nothing about betting money they would not make the NCAA tournament. I did say “Maybe I should bet money on WHOEVER plays the Hawks...then they (meaning Iowa) would win for sure”.
