Buy real wood furniture used. Most ‘wood’ furniture being sold new today is just sawdust and glue pressed together. Plenty of brand new furniture sold today comes pre-distressed to appear vintage anyway. Paint can make old furniture match modern decor.

Whether you’re spending $100 or $100,000 on an item think hard about where the value comes from. People buy ceramic vases, not hand painted for $7-12,000 because some business asked that much. Rich or poor, we’re all being sold worthless junk, it’s up to us to not buy.

I'll add:

Smoke only gets into the meat for the first couple of hours. After that, bring it inside, wrap it, put it in the oven and cook it. It just needs the heat, so there's no point continuing to screw with the smoker.
This....especially with ribs.

When caring for your compost pile, start feeding the maggots lye early in the process. You will lose many in the beginning, but the survivors' efficiency, effort, and effectiveness will save you hours of time spent digging when you need a quick disposal.

Dish soap is a superior stain pre-treatment vs shout or spray and wash. Apply to any stain (especially grease) on your clothing, and it will come out clean.

Big stain remover hates thid one simple trick!

If you're ever approached or chased by a strange dog and you're not sure if they're dangerous, you can bend down and pretend to pick up a rock and throw it at the dog, and they will generally retreat. You don't actually have to throw anything, they will react defensively as if you are throwing something at them. You can have pretty good luck holding them off that way, at least buy some time to get to safety.

When reverse searing a steak, don't wait until you are within close to target temperature.

So, if your target is 125, don't wait until it's at 110-115 to sear. Instead, sear it at 80-100 degrees so you can get as much sear as you want without overcooking, and then bring it back on the lower heat to raise the last 5-10 degrees to target.

Its way too easy to overcook while you're searing, or build up a ton of residual cooking that will leave it too well by the time you eat it. Reaching target temperature on the lower temperature means you can basically stop on a dime every time.
