And they're "gulp" Fuskers.

P.S. They also rank Colby as the second best guard in the conference. With 2 so highly thought of linemen, expect the Iowa oline to kill it this year, right? Right???

How much of the oline wows were due to BFs unimaginative scheme? Defenses knew what was coming. Hard to block in those situations.
BFs unimaginative coordinating certainly played a role but the linemen were consistently losing in one-on-one blocking situations. It’s been a mess on a macro scale.

Rooting hard for this Lester guy to turn things around. But if this experienced OL is still poor, I think Barnett is looking for a new gig elsewhere next January.

I can't believe his boss doesn't keep a sharp(er) eye on his OL.

He equates offense to Covid but he did seem to be a pretty good OL coach.

Fact: Jones “has anchored Iowa’s [terrible] offensive line for 26 of the last 27 games.”

Also Fact: Logan Jones has not been very good while “anchoring” the offensive line.
And your expertise in evaluating center play is based on what ? It takes 5 good lineman to have a good offensive line. Two or even three good linemen isn't enough. We haven't had 5 good offensive linemen the past 3 seasons.

YPC under BF:

2017- 3.8
2018- 4.0
2019- 3.9
2020- 4.6
2021- 3.4
2022- 2.9
2023- 3.3

I’m sorry, but a guy who played and coached OL, had no fücking clue how to put a run game together. There were a whole lot of guys in the 2017-2019
OL rooms that went on to cash NFL paychecks, and we couldn’t muster 4 YPC? That’s terrible.

I have a feeling we’re going to have discussions on this board in 6 months about how we’re way more talented on offense than expected.

Dammit guys, we had:

Akrum Wadley
James Butler
Mekhi Sargent
Tyler Goodson

Carrying the ball those years too.

Biggest OLine problem IMO is the fact that Iowa consistently plays guards at the OT position.

It is far far more a play calling problem than positional. You can’t block when the defense knows what’s coming with relative certainty.

last year Iowa ranked 87 in sacks allowed per game, and 100th in total sacks allowed. Some of that would go back to Hill as the QB, but you cannot look at game film and say those tackles/guards were hitting their blocks either.

No need to argue here. I think you're both right. Iowa has really struggled to recruit/develop tackles over the last 4-5 years and the offensive schemes and play calling were absolutely abysmal.

Not arguing with feelings, but stats. I will take this a step further and state unequivocally that Barnett should have been shown the door with Brian.
