Hey Morons, yes you

All you morons think if you win with great def and avg off it’s somehow less of a win then if you have a great off and avg def.
Iowa's offense isn't even CLOSE to being average, and I have never seen anyone say it's less of a win. Strike one.

Offensively he runs the ball and the clock and again shortens the games, the number of possessions opponents get and at the end of the day.

Ignorant. When you can't pick up first downs or sustain drives, you actually give the opposing offense MORE time of possession, and put MORE pressure on our defense. Strike Two.

But truly there are some fools on here that would probably be happier with more points and less wins.

100% false. Strike Three.

YER OUT!

About the only thing you said that wasn't nonsensical is that the tools are there on offense, and it should get better. On that I agree wholeheartedly.

Look no one expects us to beat the big boys, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State are in a different league right now. The way our offense is constructed it’s going to be hard to beat them. But our offense is designed to beat teams when they score 10 or less points.

Thanks for proving your ignorance, no one else try’s to control the game and time of possession like KF, so obviously our OFF stats are lacking, bc our possession are lacking by design. Thats the entire plan foo!! Go look at all the teams we play and their TOP, PTs scored, etc.. it’s the game plan being executed. They don’t put up the stats against us either like they do against other teams. U really don’t get it do u?
And he very often fails at doing this, dummy.

Do you check the Time of Possession after most our games? Kirk isn’t controlling the TOP for shit - he simply has a Phil Parker defense.

So you are comparing a game Utah State won, against an inferior opponent to three games iowa lost to inferior opponents? That makes sense.

Do any of them make sense….? It’s a football game? Lots of scores don’t make sense and I’m not sure why so many think they do? Comparatively speaking….

We won, we beat ISU and I’m happy about that. We even scored 20pts and I don’t care if that was by Devine doctrine or not…

Last year after 2 games we had 14….and I didn’t expect to have a great offense and when BF leaves next year I expect the offense to stay similar and if KF leaves I expect Phil to leave and our offense be way better and our total product worse!

Yes. You seem to be part of the, “I don’t care how we win, just win crowd.” Well those were three games we had no business losing last year. And we did. We probably win those games this year, just because of Cade alone.

I question many on here about their knowledge of the game of football. All you morons think if you win with great def and avg off it’s somehow less of a win then if you have a great off and avg def. I mean are you all really that dumb? Do you not understand that the final score, no matter how it’s done, determines the winner? I mean seriously how fking dumb does one have to be to infer a win is less of a win if it’s done with great Def vs great OFF. Are you all really that stupid?? But then you call out a coach who will go down as the greatest in the history of Iowa football, and his son who played and coached both in the NFL and Power 5. You dumbasses who work some 8-5 sales job think you know more because you were 2nd team all conference at some 8 man fball team in Iowa.

Seriously, get a fking clue about the game of football. Let me help you there are 3 key phases, OFF, DEF, and Special Teams. It doesn’t matter which of these 3 determine the outcome of a game, you still either win or lose based on the final score, and get the stat in the win or loss column from it, u friggin morons.

It’s still mesmerizing that you fools haven’t noticed the genius behind how KF wins at Iowa, and way above what the realistic expectations should be. With the huge recruiting obstacles of being a state with no nfl team, the smallest population base, corn fields as the pride of playgrounds in the state, and shitty cold ass winters, y’all think he should complete for the top OFF talents like the fools you are. Sorry peeps, how bout you vacation outside of going to the fking Amanas for Christmas and see what kids from other states see when they go on recruiting trips elsewhere. Oh yeah, Iowa City is special, no doubt, but it’s not the only fking awesome college town and game day experience in the game.

KF has a formula that works waaay above what any should at Iowa. He’s knows he could never win consistently trying to focus on scoring points and OFF recruiting focus. Go ask the savior y’all so badly loved early in in Lames, now what, how’s the OFF powerhouse program doing?? He’s just another ISU coach doing below average shit in Lames which is better then what they should be doing, so enjoy just below average in Lames bc it really should be a program that competes with RICE and that’s about it.

KF knows he’s beat if he lines up his OFF against most others, so what does he do? He controlls the number of OFF possessions by making team eat up clock and make long tiring drives to score points with his bend don’t break style of D. And on top of that it’s hard for college age kids to stay patient and not mistakes along the way in Doug so, hence all of our turnover successes.

Offensively he runs the ball and the clock and again shortens the games, the number of possessions opponents get and at the end of the day bets on his DEF being better than the other teams OFF. What’s so fin wrong with that? Other than y’all don’t get to stroke yourselves more during the game bc of OFF touchdowns.

How dumb would it be for KF to have a forced focus of scoring quickly to satisfy you blowhard fans, meanwhile allowing more possessions and wearing out his DEF who he relays on executing every play. Not to mention most programs are going to have better OFF talent to score points. But truly there are some fools on here that would probably be happier with more points and less wins.

Not only has KF done more for the state of Iowa and Iowa football, putting the program on the map and known in the national sports media, he is respected more by the NFL than any other coach in college football, possibly as much as a couple others, but no one has a better reputation of developing kids in the game of football period, and all the facts and numbers are there to support that statement, to include statements from coaches, owners, front office people in the NFL.

So why not get on this bandwagon of supporting the spectacular DEF he puts out there yr in and yr out, understand why the scores are lower, and appreciate what could be and I predict will be, the best 20 some yrs of football to ever be played at Iowa.

Not to mention if Maybe, just maybe, y’all supported the kids and coaches instead being in there Heads’s bout how bad it is, bc we know they read it, they would play with a tad bit more confidence, free of worry, and score just a few more pints along the way to get us over the hump and into a CFP game or 2. Or go do yourselves a favor and watch a different team or sport, maybe Americas favorite past time, baseball… yeah cause that’s just a OFF fking delight type of game you hypocrites!

So can we please go to a Spread offense?
If for no other reason than to reach Junior's 25 ppg?

yea... these dummies want the coach fired because he didn't throw deep passes when we were up 3 scores.

it is the Nebraska Syndrome.. its not about winning... its about something they can never define.
"Nebraska Syndrome" = some form of Voodoo? Just wondering.

I agree at times it doesn’t work, that’s the philosophy he uses to win and when we win, it usually applies… which is the point.
I agree with some of what you are saying, but to believe KF is happy with the offense and the OL play, not. KF want to run the ball, eat up time, which limits the opponents possessions. Not by relying on the defense and punting. Field position yes, but he wants to run and get first downs. If that include passing the ball so be it. Nothing is rock science on what he wants to do. But you do have to have the Jimmy and Joes on offense. I hope we do and the OL improves throughout the season. Or the Penn State game is going to be ugly.
Just my thoughts.

You are not wrong with your assessment of how Iowa plays however, the problem lately is that Iowa's offense has not been able to carry their end of the couch. For a ball control, bend don't break team the offense must also be able to sustain drives and eat the clock too. If a team has a long drive and eats up clock only to settle for a field goal or no points but then the offense goes three and out eventually, those long drives will turn into 7 points. Go three and out often enough the points really start to add up.

Where is this average offense you speak of?
Look at last yr vs thisbyr 2 games in, then add in the 5 to 7 TDs that were damn good plays called and almost TDs so far this yr.

We had very few “almost s” at this point last yr. So far 2 or 3 runs with an ankle tackle or would be 7s, 3 dropped Td’s. And CM has missed two bombs for 7… not to mention a couple other broken coverages that if he had a health leg he pry be able to scramble and find. SP had 0 chance of a scramble throw last yr. If CM gets a bit healthier we’ll be just fine on 0. Way more weapons, and on top of it KJ is nursing an injury and has had limited reps in both games.

We had three almost win games last season too! We were an almost 10 and 2 team! Brilliant.

In theory it works if you control the clock and time of possession and your offense sustains drives. Has Kirk ever really said this? I think he likes to say he wants to be balanced. My point is people say we want to run the ball and control time of possession. It really hasn't been true for awhile. When you are leading the nation in punts per game and people are printing shirts saying punting is winning it's not working. We've evolved on defense over the years to combat spread offenses and that has made our defense even better.
How dare Phil Parker evolves with the times in order to compete with modern offenses!!! The nerve of that son of a b****!

Well we win the Illinois game for sure last year and probably Nebraska, but that was no gimme as we were torched by their receiver last year with Hall out there. The schedule will never get any easier than this year. It's all big boy football starting next year. We don't get Illinois, Nebby, and the other dregs of the conference every year. With the money that UCLA and USC are going to be getting to upgrade their facilities along w/Oregon and Washington plus already having OSU, Michigan and Penn St we aren't going to win many 14-10 games in the future. Look at how well our defense played last year until the dam broke and we gave up 50.

I mean, OP is right.
Iowa has the ball at the 50 vs a strong opponent and I swear we're not trying to score any more than we are just NOT trying to turn the ball over. Punting to the 7 is better than trying to move the ball. Iowa's chance of winning 7-3 is far better than winning 31-21 vs a great team. So that's the game plan. 130th rank on OFF is just a consequence of that. We CAN'T use a better OFF coordinator because that's not part of the plan. The plan is exactly what we're watching. That said, the improvement would be to connect on the 2 plays during the game we actually do surprise them with.

Why not just win 31 to 3?

Sorry, but I prefer football games with some semblance of offense resulting in higher scores. They're just more fun to watch. However, if scoring is not your preference and boredom is not an issue, there's always soccer!

This complimentary football talk is crazy. In principle it makes sense, but I guarantee you, the worst thing for a defense is a three and out by the offense.
There is no ball control offense when you have one of the worst offenses in the country the past couple years.
If Iowa could run the ball and control the clock, that’s one thing. It hasn’t shown the ability to do that yet.

Idaho State who is terrible. Scored more points than we did against Utah State. Give me a f*ckin break. And we were at home. There are no excuses.
