How's Keegan Doing?

Minnesota (1-1) wins at Sacramento (0-1), 117-115.

Keegan attempted a game winning 3 point shot at the buzzer and he just missed.

DeRozan had 26; Sabonis 24; Keegan 23; Monk 17; Fox 15.

Kings gave up 20 3's to Minny. Like last year, the 3 point defense was poor. Shot 80% from the line which isn't bad, but they can do better. The shooting guards (Huerter and Ellis) combined for 4 points. Heurter is coming in off of injury, so he will get better with time as he gets more run. Turnovers weren't bad as the Kings had 9 to Minny's 16. Hotly contested game that could have gone either way at the end. I look for improvement going forward.

The second game Sac has lost to open the season. First one at home and now this road game. Not panicking lol. Kings are famous for slow starts. Keegan went for a long time without scoring, but DeRozan, Sabonis, and Fox did well. Keegan, Huerter, and Monk each had 14. Much to work on. Let's get it done.

And the Kings fought back and regained the lead in the 3rd. And now, this garbage.

The Kings (0-2) lose at the LA Lakers (3-0), 131-127. The Kings led 94-87 after 3 qtrs but got outscored 44-33 in the 4th qtr. Incredible.

Keegan's stats:

Kings gave up something like a 16-0 run to start the 4th. It was ridiculous. Lebron played well, but Sacremento takes too many low efficiency shots and plays some poor defense in long stretches.

Iowa may play poor defense in long stretches too, but imo our shot selection is always pretty good if you want high efficiency.

Yep, that big run in the 4th did it.

Kings up 51-43 at the half. DeMar keeping the Kings afloat with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. WTG DeMar! Keegan with 3 rebounds and 3 PF's. Kris has 4 points and 2 rebounds.

Keegan had a rough night shooting, but he did very well rebounding, with the 8, and 4 of them being on the offensive end. He did very well on the things that don't show up in the box score by blocking out well and playing good hard nosed defense. And, he had only one turnover as well.
Good to have Kevin back to shooting well. And, hat's off to DeMar for keeping the ship afloat early on, especially. Fox and Sabonis scored nicely as well, with Domas picking up another double-double.
Kings go on the road now for 4 games starting with Utah.

Kings win at Utah 113-96. Keegan with 14 pts, 5 rebs, an assist and a steal. Pleasure to watch DeMar work. He finished with 20 pts, 4 rebs, 8 assists, a stl and a block. Kings again leaving points at the ft line shooting 64%. Kings need a big center badly. Len can get you a couple of rebounds, but he's not a scorer. Lyles plays a small ball 5 from time to time, but the Kings struggle against teams with big centers. If Sabonis gets in foul trouble, then the team's in trouble. Kings gave up 14 3 pointers. That's the thing about the Kings. They can't defend the 3 point shot and teams know this and take advantage of it. At the 11 minute mark in the 4th, Keegan was on the perimeter guarding a player closely. Another Utah player ran near where Keegan was guarding the first player, and hit a wide open 3 on a pass from the player Keegan was guarding, forcing Keegan to try to stop him as well. Who lost their man? Mike Brown preaches defense, but the 3 point defense is not there. Kings shot 26% from 3.

Just caught Matt's pod on last night's game. He said John Collins has been in conversations around Sac for quite some time, and thinks he would be a good pickup on a reasonable deal. He's scoring 15 pts and 6 rebs with the Jazz so far this season. He would add depth at the 4. I like the idea, but we'll have to wait to see who else will be available before the Trade Deadline.

Center Orlando Robinson should be re-evaluated very soon for his MCL injury, if memory serves me correct.

The Kings (3-2) held on & won at Atlanta (2-4), 123-115.

6 Kings scored in double figures. Fox had 31 points, DeRozan 27, Sabonis 15, Keegan 14, Ellis 12 and Huerter 10.

Kings gave up 19 3's and had to fight like crazy to get the win. Atlanta was without 6 players, 5 for injury. DeMar had 27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and a block. He was clutch again late as well. Nice job by Keegan, rebounding, playing tough defense, and getting a key block late in the 4th. Until the Kings are able to become better at defending the 3, I'm afraid there will be more tense moments when their 3's aren't falling. They have to catch a flight as soon as they can and be ready to play at Toronto tomorrow night.

Sac @ Raptors @ 6:30 PM on League Pass. Keegan and DeMar played just under 39 min yesterday. Fox played 37 min, and Domas played 33 min. Monk had 29 and Huerter had 24 min. Will fatigue play a factor? Probably not as these guys are in great physical shape. Brown will adjust the mins during the game. Sac's bench is thin and not very productive, outside of Monk and Ellis. It will still take Lyles a little while to get back into the flow of the offense, coming off injury. Have not heard anything new on Orlando Robinson's eval yet.

Toronto takes down the Kings 131-128 in OT. Keegan fouled out in regulation with 16 points and 10 rebounds. DeMar with 33/4/4 and 3 stls.

Edit: Kings gave up 17 3's and the Raptors shot 46% on them. Disgusting. Meanwhile, the Kings made 10 3's and shot 25%. Guard the 3 or lose.

Defense, once again, appears to be the Kings' achilles heal.

Add to that the 18 turnovers they had, and I believe 26 points off those turnovers. Why did Mike Brown choose to start Doug McDermott over Keon Ellis? Fox revealed that he has a finger injury, and Kevin Huerter didn't play due to illness. Raptors were without Scottie Barnes.
Trey Lyles isn't back to his old form yet. Hopefully, everyone can get healthy once again and Sac can hoist the sails. The Kings put forth a nice effort but RJ Barrett had a great game for Toronto. Kings are in Miami for tomorrow night's game. Sucky schedule. Started this 4 game road trip with the Jazz, then at Atlanta, then up to Toronto for a back to back, then down to Miami for tomorrow night's game. Rough, but you know, all the teams have to deal with this as well. Come on Kings. Let's play better perimeter defense, stop turning the ball over so much, and get healthy! Keegan, I hope you start making more 3's soon.
