Now, THIS is what I'm talking about. Imagine the thousands of diehard Iowa wrestling fans who aren't even yet aware of the movement afoot right now. Many of them will learn about it at the HWC banquet, I suspect, but we do need to get the word out more widely. Not a bad idea for those of us on Facebook and Twitter to start posting and tweeting that big things are happening around Iowa wrestling.I'm a middle aged diehard IA wrestling fan who up until 2 years ago, out of complete disgust, had never sought out a forum like this. I had to do something to "medicate" the anger and disappointment I felt after another subpar finals performance! I've been checking in ever since but didn't become a member until this drive started and I saw what was happening. I made my first of many contributions last week. It felt amazing!
I was just thinking of how much money could be pulled in if the rest of hawkeye wrestling nation knew this was happening! Would it be possible to publicize this effort somehow? I can't imagine the damage that could be done if all the other marginally tech savvy old guys and gals like myself knew what was happening here! Thanks to everyone on here who steers the ship! Let's get our boys back on top! GO HAWKS!!
I'm sure more people will get word about current efforts when the U of I goes public with more concrete plans for a new facility, etc., but it certainly can't hurt for those of us on this board to do some publicity work, ourselves, to get more Hawk fans engaged in efforts to ramp up support the HWC and make it the premier RTC in the nation.
This post from Hawk170 highlights the fact that we've only seen the very tip of the iceberg where financial support from Hawkeye Nation is concerned. I'm sure there are plenty of Hawk wrestling fans out there with substantial financial resources who would love to pitch in significantly. And that's still the tip of the iceberg, folks! Hold on tight -- gonna be a f*** ride!
