HWC $146,785 Raised! Goal- 100K

This is how I would go about getting 1,000 people to sign up for autopay. You could have a $25 dollar option which would get the news letter and some initial item such as a shirt. That will take ground work but should be easy to sell. If they will commit to $50 you can hold a drawing for a nice prize each month. I am thinking around $500 dollar value which equates to 10% of your monthly intake. Limit winners to one time per year.

I would do one drawing for every 100 auto pay subscribers with the goal of getting at least 1,000 subscribers. 1,000 would yield 50k per month. In my example you would draw 10 prizes a month with a cost of 3k-5k. You can do guns, grills, season tickets etc The list goes on and on. I believe fans would jump all over that. Everyone likes to be a part of something. Fans showing their winnings on facebook will increase the exposure. That will be their chance to sell friends on the deal.

You can either give an entry to the drawing for every $50 dollars. A $100 monthly donation would yield 2 entries to the drawing. You could also do an end of year special for those at the $100 dollar rate such as a drawing for a cruise or trip to nationals etc. It would all depend on the numbers of donors. People not affiliated with the club can spread the word around football tailgating and give the contact info for signing up. I could get a handful of people myself. Thank you for giving us a line of communication.

You have some outstanding thoughts my friend! Keep grinding the gears!

We're getting some great ideas on here and the support of Hawkeye Wrestling fans is showing. There is definitely power in numbers, and everyone knows that we have the numbers, so let's make it happen.

HWC needs to obtain a "charitable gambling" license from the state. This license authorizes raffles and games that are otherwise illegal.

I live in Southwestern Pennsylvania, but I'm a Hawkeye wrestling fan. I've been reading this board for a couple of years, and this thread is tremendous! So, here's my first post:

"Can Novak comment on whether a monthly auction could take place for those donating using a $50 per month annual subscription? There is no reason the club couldn't sign up 1,000 people for the auto pay. It would take phone calls and door to door but the end result would be worth it."

You guys are giving me so many ideas its making my head spin ( in a good way)

I have been taking notes-- will try to prioritize and see what we can get done ! Just imagine if we had some cooperation from Admin/IClub/Foundation ( more on that later) We could top any other club donations EASY with our fanbase
I was joking about Jerry Lewis up above, but seriously. . . . great idea. . . there could be an annual HWC telethon! I'm sure you could get a whole bunch of fans willing to make calls. Make it an event, cover it online, have IA Wrestle and/or Takedown Wrestling (and maybe even our buddies at Flo) stop over, order in some pizzas (or better yet, have the, donated), and go to town. Could be a great new tradition.

Is there currently an auto donate vs one time? Auto would really help. I could see a lot of people doing 10, 20, 50, 100 etc. a month.

Definitely. I'd sign up for something like that in a heartbeat. I'm late to the party and I'm a poor, but I've got mine:

Also bought some HWC stuff from Ironside. Can't wait to get it in the mail.

Winter gets pretty boring. We could have a state wide Biggest Loser contest this next winter. 20 bucks entry. A few prizes. Most know that they won't win but will gladly pony up $ if it makes them get off their butts to lose some weight.

Have businesses across the state conduct the weigh ins. One in early January and one in early March for example. 8 week contest. The publicity could go viral and the local business would have a lot of people come through their doors. HWC is happy, the business is happy, and people are losing weight and getting healthier for a couple of months. The earlier this is promoted the bigger the response. Start locking down locations now. Make announcements and spread the word at the banquet and other HWC outings.

You could even flight the contest like a golf tournament. So someone who only has 10 pounds to lose still has a chance of winning 3rd flight.

Some of us are a little more nuts than others, but we're all in this together. Dude, your part is every bit as important as anyone else's. It's awesome that you're joining in, and that you're ordering from Ironside. More power to ya! It's a team effort, and every last Hawk fan counts. There's a lot of power in numbers.

Could HWC partner with a local IC restaurant to do a couple of tailgate parties before a meet or two? Host it at Backpocket, $25 cover includes some type of a meal and a shuttle ride. Have some of the HWC wrestlers there, maybe a quick talk from Tom/Terry/Gable. Sell drink tickets with some type of proceeds to the club, do a 50/50 raffle etc.

It may not be a giant fundraiser, but would bring some great awareness to the HWC.

Bump. This thread needs to stay at the top. It's infinitely more awesome than any other on this board.

I agree. This should be pinned to the top. Very inspiring what these grass roots donations can do to inspire
Others to do the same. I've been very impressed by everyone. My donation was March 2nd, My wife and I received our 2020 Japan Olympics HWC jackets before Nationals, wore them proudly.

Please keep donating gals and guys. Let's break the all-time record for donations in the month of April.
And every month after that!! I think the monthly donation idea is great! Keeps the ball rolling, and is a great reminder.

Go HAWKS!!

Was out of town dealing with my mother in laws nursing home financial issues. Just got back on my ipad and it's great to see everyone pitching in. We can do more with corporate and estate type giving and make this happen.

Haven't been to a football game but does HWC roll out a mat and do demos before games? Be a great shot to relieve liquored up big money football guys of their money. Penn State is on Sept 23...hell, it would be a matter of state pride to donate. A Gilman/Clark or a Gilman/McD go would be worth a lot of $$$$.

Also, Cory Clark needs to be pimped out to the corporate world as he gives a great speech/interview and has a great narrative.

The last few days have really been eye opening about the importance of donating to the HWC as well as UI Athletic Foundation. I hope this helps.

If we can keep this up, we may be able to get a slush fund of our own.
