Don't be afraid to donate more..............I've ordered more emoji's.....just in case.

OBTW...for anyone that doesn't understand my post.............It wouldn't let me post with more than 20 images and then shows the X as a deletion.

$73,825 as of 8am!

That's incredible. I am proud to be a part of it.

If I had known in High School what I know today, wrestling would have been a bigger part of my life for sure. I'm built for it....:)

After having read this entire thread last night, there was no way I wasn't donating. There are some really solid ideas in here Randy...a couple of them would be highly recommendable. Getting a monthly donation option setup for Hounded would be my first task just so he quits posting for gods sake! ;) ;)

A paypal option would be awesome as well.

And then the fund raising ideas, like booths at events. Buy a 10x10 and have a custom canopy done, and buy a really decent 10x20 with a similar custom canopy for good outdoor events. Contact the surrounding county fair folks, do town festivals, do wrestling demos (need an outdoor mat) at these things to raise the kids and parents interest. Buy a smoker on wheels (used) and sell BBQ, brats or burgers, or chicken...I know from experience these things all take time. Many times, its time we don't have on an individual level...but, you have resources. The wrestlers that are sponsored, other board members, and the wrestling communities you live in. Don't be AFRAID to ask for help or for volunteers to staff events. I remember the "need to do this myself" and the overwhelming feelings that come with that.

Anything is possible, no idea is dumb.

You can obviously see what a small movement like this can generate, think about it on a state wide level! Even without Mr. Nicholls large, and quite generous, donation, this 14 page thread still netted $23,875. That ain't chump change. BN's 50k pushed that up to what it is now?

Heck, do an annual fund raiser here. Talk to Tom, I don't know if he has an issue with it from a Rivals standpoint (might be prohibited??), I don't know what his contractual agreement says, so coordination might be a good idea.

Again, pretty proud of this group, I think it needs to be cross posted to the other forums for folks to see that don't necessarily go to the wrestling board as this is a hell of an accomplishment. I'd do it( I would have pinned it too, but couldn't figure out how) but I think my lowly admin powers only let me decide which posts stay, and which posts go....same with posters. :D

I am curious of one thing....and it might not be something you can share: what is the average dollars donated annually to the HWC? I'm guessing this little event here isn't just a drop in the bucket, my guess it's fairly significant.

Thanks for your efforts, and thanks for everyone here's efforts to make Hawkeyes Wrestling better.

Mike

Mike, thanks so much for not only your donation but also taking the time to read this thread and make this post - great to see someone from Rivals take an interest in our "little" wrestling community! :)

Dude, I'm a fan, just like you. We moved away a couple years ago, I guess nearly 4 now, but I'm just a Hawkeye in Texas, and I let them know everyday!

Anything I can do to help, no matter how small, I will continue to do.

Mike

With today's donations it looks like we're just short of $75,000. When WWDM first challenged us to set the goal at 100K I thought he was overreaching, but we're now close. However, it would have been a mighty difficult and long struggle if not for the donation of Bob. The least we can do to thank him is to MATCH that. The goal = 100K .... Bob = 50K, so the Cesspool needs to = 50K !! Can we do it? YES! Will take some time, but in 9 days we've raised half (25K). Can't wait to see what will happen in the next couple of weeks! Cesspool Pride!!

I'm late to the party but will get on board soon. Since I'm going to shortly be doing my annual "pay the Government" procrastination ritual, is there any IRS types on here that could tell me if it's OK to write a check to the HWC instead of the Federal Government and just call it good? ;)

Great Job so far fella's, and a special thanks to Mr. Nicolls (wish I could match your contribution, but sadly reality is getting in the way! Ha!).

GO HAWKS!

CowboyUp61 has been posting very supportive comments and, of course, it would be sacrilegious for him to contribute to this thread. Instead he is helping Wrestling for Life provide another $200 wrestling camp scholarship.
I think in time he may turn to the "Dark Side" and wear the Black and Gold. He is starting to see the Power of the Dark Side and having second thoughts about his allegiance.;)

nah, not going to happen! Too much Orange in the blood (and on my paycheck:eek:) But believe it or not, due to the pre-med stuff, my 17 year old is considering...now if he was good enough to wrestle and went there, i MIGHT wear a t-shirt occasionally.

Really think making this sticky killed a lot of the mojo. There was a much more organic feel when it was a normal thread and there was a physiological element of seeing the thread drop down the page that made more people engage with it and hence more likely to jump in with a donation. Not to mention I can't be the only one that just skips over the sticky threads on any forum. They are kinda like banner ads. Anyways, didn't feel like bitching without ponying up.

Good job outta you, Don!

New rule: If anyone wants to bicker, feel free -- but you must donate at least $100 to the HWC in the same post.

Funny -- I was thinking that Moriah must be working overtime to get the HWC swag out! Good problem to have, but she must be extraordinarily busy.

Did I hear the phrase, "Match me" in there somewhere?;)

How about this. . . . Every tournament, every Hawk fan donates $10 to the HWC for each win by a HWC wrestler. Who's in?

That could definitely be a thing...I'm in...just need to someone to tally them up and remind us. I'm busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest these days.
