I HATE WISCONSIN

Because they find ways to win? The home cooking was impressive I'll admit that.. also Turgeon is more of a hot head than Fran, no question..

Today, Wisconsin played basically 8 players in their
rotation. All of whom had at least 15 minutes. Two
other players had 3 minutes and 2 minutes respectively.
The Iowa Hawkeyes seem to have at least 11 players
who are all getting at least 12 minutes per game. At
this time of year an 8 player rotation brings more continuity
to the game.

Went to that game today. As a closeted Hawk fan in Madtown, I kept trying to think how Iowa will fare against wisky. Showy will be in Jok's face the whole game and Cook will need to stay out of foul trouble for Iowa to stay close. Both Hayes and Koenig seem to be playing better. Jok and the other Hawks will need to be physical and be much stronger with the ball than they showed against Illinois. The Badgers always shoot more free throws than their opponents especially at home.

Fouls called were about even, perhaps MD had one or two more called against them. Looked like Turgeon was following the lead of Crean to see how far onto the floor he could work.

It's pretty amazing what Wisco has done since I was a kid. Back then, they never beat Iowa at football and their basketball team had one good player, Brad Sellers, and then he transferred.

If not for Northwestern, Wisco would've been the absolute doormat of Big Ten sports. The Badgers have earned their hated status.

I still think Wisconsin is a bit overrated.

They are a solid team but that was their first somewhat impressive win of the season imo. I think they probably end up as a 4 seed and win their first two games before losing in the Sweet 16 to the 1 seed.

They just keep on doing it year in and year out with much less talent than most large part of time, mind boggling and hurts my head. Iowa needs to be able to eclipse them again like 75% of their history.

They have a system. Bo started it and Greg has continued it. They play good fundamental, disciplined basketball.

"Who hates Iowa? We hate Iowa."

And you all whine.

Hypocrites much?
At least Iowa fans don't have a stupid "cheer" used at their sporting events to spew the hatred. Gopher fans are such clowns!

In fairness, the Badger's return to good fundamental, disciplined Basketball began in 1995 with the arrival of Dick Bennett.

You are correct, I totally forgot about Tony's father. Dick Bennett's teams played fundamentally sound defense (Pack Line) which I love.

I would say that their program turnaround started late in Steve Yoder's tenure (NIT appearance in 1989 with Trent Jackson, Danny Jones, Tom Molaski, etc. leading that team was their first postseason appearance since 1947) (getting Michael Finley, Tracy Webster, and Rashard Griffith in their 1990, '91, and '92 recruiting classes: 1994 NCAA Tourney appearance was their first since 1947) and in the brief Stu Jackson era.

Then came the Dick Bennett/brief Brad Soderberg era where they had 2 or 3 NCAA Tourney appearances and then the Bo Ryan era when they made the NCAA Tournament every single season.
