First two years twelve games under .500. 12-24.
Next two years dead even. 18-18
The last two years twelve games over .500. 24-12.

I suppose the trend has to end because we aren't going to finish anywhere close to 30-6 for the next two years.

What's missing is the stunning post seasons. We've struggled in the BTT. And we are approaching a fair par in the NCAA's with a 2-3 record.

And that's where eventually I think we see some breakthroughs in the next six seasons!

Our first season under Fran we went 4-14. And amazingly it took several years to look back and see it but we ended up with a one year rebuild. And, no way, no way, no way do we finish this year at 4-14. My guess is 9-9 or 10-8. Another post season tournament and the fifth season we haven't had a losing Big Ten Record?

Let's make this interesting, something reasonable to play for......:) Only three coaches in Iowa's history going all the way back to Pops Harrison have ever avoided a losing Big Ten season for at least five years in a row.

Bucky O'Conner
Lute Olson
Tom Davis

That's an interesting group to be in. All three did it once. All three did it for exactly five years.

McCaffery is an 8-10 season, one win away, from having already joined that group in his first six years.

That seems big to me. Let's get at least 9-9 in 2016/2017!

2 out of the last 3 years there has been an end of the season meltdown. Effort wise they just folded in way too many end of the regular season games(plenty of those games they should have won). They need to address this. If they get that figured out the Iowa Hawkeye basketball program will have taken another step toward being an elite program.

It is all over the map.

1-7 in our 4-14 year (I'm using the Big Ten record, not the whole season, as I think it is more comparable.)
4-4, 8-10
6-2, 9-9
1-7, 9-9
6-2, 12-6
2-6, 12-6

Keep in mind some of these are BTT and Post Season.

B10 .500 is a worthy achievement in a rebuilding year, and this year is a major rebuild with 4 muti-year starters to replace.

I tend to think about place within the standings. Top 5 should always be a base expectation and 1st place should be the goal. Stated differently, Top 5 B10 finish will get you an NCAA invitation and that is where you want to end up regardless of where you started.

Iowa's biggest hurdle this year is inexperience but I believe they have the talent to finish Top 5 which, by the way, will add another bead to the NCAA tourney string.

I doubt you were just sitting there thinking those numbers. I would bet you looked them up.
