#8 DB for Illinois is bad.

Lets himself get beat, and then barely bumps the WR after the catch and has to bring him down after the safety help whiffs on the tackle.

Poser Mahomes got lucky on that one. That ball hung up forever, ILL caught sleeping big time.

The 100% Mahomes imitation is douchebaggy, but as much as I hate to admit it (because F* Knebby!!!), Raiola would be a big upgrade on McNamara.

What title are you referring to? Big Ten?

How do you know he is a lazy recruiter? I’m guessing the greater issue is trying to overcome the geographical limitations + the garbage offense + starting marginally talented receivers who can block over actual playmakers.
Look to the neighboring states. They seem to get talented skill players

This game has been enjoyable to watch.

There’s been big plays on both sides of the ball, special teams. Little too many penalties but that’s the only gripe

Again it just a completely different game than what Iowa plays. Kirk has completely taken all the fun out of football with his disregard for offense and ANY risk with passes >20 yards.

Yeah he’s gotten 10 wins!!! But it’s all a bit of illusion. Barely beat bad teams, stand no chance against the better teams

Iowa has enough talent and resources to bring in a good QB and adapt to the changing landscape. Kirk doesn’t want to

I’m not confident we’re going to beat Nebraska, their QB is very good. We have not seen that in the West for some time.

Raiola is a good player but I get what others are saying now. It's kinda weird. Regardless, I doubt any Nebby fan cares because the kid can play. Don't blame them.

Yet these teams haven’t sniffed 10 wins in over a decade in the same division. That argument is so dumb. Yes the product wasn’t fun to watch but they played who was in front of them

You're right. Who was the last bonafide QB out of the West now that you mention it? I'm trying to think of one but can't. There has to be one since Russell Wilson, no?

Little Mahomes starts chucking the ball like that we will have 4 picks.
Bank it.

I’m starting to question the “enough talent and resources.” At least for multiple skill positions. I hope I’m wrong. We’re early in this new landscape. Time will tell.

I like Cade, but he's damaged goods and was likely lifted up by the personnel around him at Michigan. I have confidence that once he's gone, Lester will improve the QB room. His history and success as a QB is no joke.

Think part of the issue is a lot of the skill stars would sit on the depth charts for 1-2 years at a few big time schools. Now they go get paid and play instantly at other schools.

Iowa has to provide a proof of concept before they will be able to land WRs and QBs. Cade was a pretty good pull given the state they were in. Lester is going to have to prove you can succeed in his system and they will have to find underrated guys to fill in until they can get more talent.

I’ve had the same thought. I hope it tightens things up on the blue chips.

10 wins is more than these two programs have done in several years. They are in a good game with each other, which Iowa beat both last year.

Which program stands the chance against the better teams again?

Correct. There was a lot of jeers when we failed to get a few WRs in the portal during the offseason. We have to provide proof that our offense has changed and that it can produce. It'll take time for Lester to get the pieces he wants.
