*****Iowa vs Illinois (BTT) Game Thread*****

I don’t claim to have watched much Iowa basketball this season, but why people are enamored with Pryce is somewhat perplexing….based on my small sample of viewing he seems to be the poster boy of what Iowa basketball is right now……
Pryce is a decent player, developing into a good 3 point shooter, but, yes, he is an example of the problem with the program. Lack of strength and toughness that is needed

We had the same defensive strategy of Rocky Balboa had in the movies.

go to town , we'll take it and say we are tough

I know fans are full exaggeration but that was the worst rebounding effort I think I have ever seen. I kept rewinding it to see who didnt block out and our guys just turn around and watch the ball while their man goes after the ball. Even on free throw our two low post rebounders dont get low and get their arms out wide and put a body into their opponent. It's not hard to get around someone when you dont get as wide as possible. If you just lean into someone with your arms down it's easy to get right by you. Just terrible coaching in that aspect and it's so easy to do. Its mind boggling.

Small guys, below the rim, no muscle. I think you can build a team with 4 athlete and 1 pryce but you can't build a defense with Dimbele,Dix, Harding, Payton surrounding Pryce.

Agreed - it sounds like a new coach could probably make him a more complete player. He and Harding could find their niche if a new coach can infuse some more athletic/stronger players to the roster…

NIT NIT NIT, let's f'ing go win it!
I wouldn't put much money on Iowa going to either post season tournament, Beth could end Iowa's season and fire Fran as soon as tomorrow, we'll see. I don't want to see another Iowa game coached by Fran McCaffery, It's time to part ways! He's had 15 years to prove that he can coach, I've seen enough....

We've had teams with better overall and conference records fail to receive an invite. It is within the realm of possibility...but certainly not necessarily likely.
True, but a pretty good showing to end the season. I believe 3 quad 1 wins in a row before being eliminated?? We'll find out next week.

Half the players could flex their arm(s) and no muscle would show and they play like it. If you are not working on strength, conditioning, agility, etc. you are not serious about competing in the BIG. Defense and rebounding take both.

You cannot expect a shorthanded team to win 3 games in back to back to back days. Great effort, but the teams flaws were very exposed on the boards & the refs had it out for Fran. They colluded & probably thinking this may be Fran's last Big10 game, let's F him tonight!

Those refs were a joke.

Astounding stat:
Only one Iowa starter went to the free throw line today. And only two other players shot free throws....only one of which sees regular minutes.

Meanwhile every Illinois starter and two reserves had trips to the line.
That is unbelievable.

Not tomorrow my friend relax

I think Fran knew this was his last B1G game and his last chance to let Little Larry know exactly what he thought about all the shitty calls he has made against us over the years.

At least that is my hope
