Iowa +7 tonight

I don't know enough about how good Iowa State is to have an opinion on that spread. The only thing I can say is if I did bet on games I would never bet on an Iowa game because this team is either fire or trash and there is no in between. They are so inconsistent you can never make a reliable pick one way or the other on which team is going to show up. That's what happens when you are playing 18-22 year olds and live and die by the 3.
Only 23% of Iowa's points this year comes off of 3s and less than 30% of their shots taken are 3s--that ranks 331st in all of division 1. This is the first team in a while where they emphatically are not a "live or die" by the 3 team. In fact, I'd probably argue that they need to shoot way more of them since they are shooting over 35% as a team.
I will admit I don't have a large sample, but from what I have watched of ISU, they play very good, tight defense. They also move the ball well. Being at Hilton, I laid the points. I'll be very happy to be wrong.
If you don't know then why waste space on here? Just to see yourself on the board and get a like?
The teams that ISU has played this year with a pulse:
- Down 15 with under a minute to go in the first half to VCU/ down 10 with 6 minutes to go, but came back late to seal a win.
- VA Tech basically led the entire game, including a 10 point lead at half.
- Iowa State led by 21 to Texas A&M with 2:44 to go in the first half--A&M was without 2 starters. A&M closes half on a 10-0 run and eventually comes all the way back to win.
He said he didn't know enough to comment on Iowa State or the spread, and then he proceeded to NOT talk about either one. So, what exactly was the problem?
ISU's defense is perfect for our offense - they protect middle and force teams to beat them from shooting 3's. Virginia Tech had snipers and took advantage of this during the Thanksgiving tournament - we could do the same.
For reference, Va Tech shoots 33% from 3 for the year, Iowa shoots 35%. Solid analysis.

I’m frustrated in his post season play too. But I can enjoy his positives. Developing players that get chances in NBA and typically well prepared team during regular season. Fran has to have a winning record vs Iowa state.
Edit: Guess I don’t have to be negative to non Fran fans, cause there is some valid points, but this is a rival game, leave your disdain for coaching to the wayside.

I think Robbie Hummel was right, this team hasn’t found a leader yet and doesn’t really have a personality. There’s no one consistently stepping up when we need a bucket or a stop. Until that happens, I don’t see us winning a lot of road games.
Yes. I'm not above that. But the meat of my post was about gambling on Iowa in general, something that is relevant in a thread about point spreads.
That is not similar to us.
Neither team very good. We’ve had 1 good game against an above average team when we beat Seton Hall. Iowa St will come out and be very physical. This will be a good test. We’ve got some veterans that need to start playing like veterans. Tonight would be a good start.
I like Iowa +7.5 .. ISU doesnt have consistent scoring, which helps a bad Iowa defense. ISU doesn’t have a big bruiser 6’10” + .. their top rebounder is a guard. All those things slightly help cover some of Iowa’s weaknesses.
Is it too late to get some of the ISU action?
