Iowa Commit Ben VanSumeren offered by Michigan

Is anyone surprised he may take a "better" offer. He committed once then opened up after other schools offered. Now he is looking again.
I dont know him but he seems like a kid that is not 100% sure what he wants. Having 4 kids and remembering my own mind at that age I totally empathize with that.
He looks like a guy that could be a great asset forhim. But given how we develop guys I. guarantee we will find another player to replace him that will play great.

Not willing to put money on it but I think Iowa finishes in the 30's.
Didn't KF poach him from another school? Not sure why it was ok when he flipped previously but now it's some big deal

lol. UM is not offering him as a LB or as a true TE. Rather, he is being pursued as an H-back / FB to be used in the same fashion as Khalid Hill (graduating). Ben's mom is a UM grad. Given Iowa's "no visit" policy, looks like he is UM bound as it appears a visit is imminent.

haha. Have you seen how Brian Kelly is recruiting these days? The entire Notre Dame fan base wants him fired and yet he's pulling in kids right and left. Meanwhile, UM is purportedly discussing a lifetime contract with Harbaugh.

Yes people are making this much harder to understand than it should be. He was committed to Western Mich. Iowa was interested, so he decommitted. He committed to Iowa and now Michigan his dream school is interested. More power to him, he wouldn't have got on the radar of Michigan in the first place had he not had either the Western Mich. or Iowa offers. Move on, Iowa will find someone to replace him.
I posted this after he said he was solid with Iowa and before the info came out that he was visiting michigan so I got the same info we all got.. I did however speak to soon... ✌ Out Benny!
KF didn't poach BVS. If I am not mistaken, the kid decommitted after Fleck left to row boats in the land of 10,000 lakes. That's a lot of boat rowing.
Call Will Honas teammate and get a package deal. I bet he couldn't wait to get here last weekend on the official and now God led him in another direction. The thing that bothers me about these kids is all the pictures they post with all the Iowa stuff and how they love Iowa so much and can't wait to get here. No wonder there are so many divorces these days. Our culture makes it almost impossible for kids to not be insecure. Everything they see tells them they are inadequate.

Interesting that the entire Michigan staff is at his school though. Either the kid is holding to his Iowa verbal and Harbaugh is bringing out all the stops to get him. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'd love to see the kid say thanks but no thanks, too late coach.

From what little I have gathered the essexville coach is new. Me thinks he wants to tell people in his town he sent a guy to Michigan. I hope BVS and his family have more character than the coach.
This reminds of me of Higdon's coach who was a Michigan guy and pushed Higdon to take the Michigan visit.

as a parent who wouldn't want a kid to play for a coach who wears condom shaped swim caps, has sleepovers and loves nasal candy for a coach , and who cant beat MSU or OSU. Hard to compete with all that.

Pretty simple. Biggest school that offered and recruited him the hardest. Some kids get caught up in going to the biggest school with the most competition rather than playing at the right school with the right fit.
Lifetime contract my ass: fans, boosters, players, and everybody involved with UM will quickly grow tired if this lunatic and many already have. I hope he stays, much like I wish Riley would have stayed at Nebby and Lovie at Illinois.....because they are awful!

And essexville is a very small town.. it’s actually a suburb of a small town (Bay City,Mi Madonna’s hometown) I’m sure he’ll be walking around that little town like he’s Bo Schembechler if he feels he’s somewhat responsible for the kid going to Michigan... Apparently it's not official that he's visiting Michigan this weekend. Hope he stays with Iowa and signs next Wednesday but the fact it says he's gonna talk to his family makes me think he will take the visit and then basically be forced to commit to Michigan
Bottom line is they see him on offense and we see him on defense. If he prefers fullback go for it, but he looks like a linebacker to me.
Iowa may have said, us or visit them and you’re gone.
