*****IOWA vs BYU Game Thread*****

In the last 2 games, Guyton is 5-6 (83%) from three.

In yesterday's 68-48 win over BYU, here were her stats:

24 minutes (of 40 possible)

3-3 (100%) from 3
1-3 (33%) from 2
......................................
4-6 (67%) Overall shooting

0-0 FTs

11 Points
4 Defensive Rebounds
2 Assists

She had 5 of Iowa's 23 (yikes!) turnovers, however.

Growing pains ;)
When I wrote she was improving every minute, I was referring to the turnovers. She had a number of turnovers against Rhode Island and last night where she drove the toward the basket and had no where to go. Her last three drives into the lane she pulled the ball back out when she nothing was there. It was just like Caitlin and Kate did it. You can see her correcting mistakes in real time on the court.

We might be seeing why Greenway was looking for immediate, Day 1, playing time.
And it wasn't happening in IC.
Hawks are loaded at the 1/2.

Hopefully she gets the nod from Brooks her freshman year because he runs a tight rotation and plays maybe 1 or 2 people off the bench.

Was something up with teagan Melanie? Had been playing alot and doing very well I thought then hardly any minutes down south??

My guess is with Olsen out Stuelke was at PF the whole game to help break press and help bring the ball up when needed.

Mallegni is often the PF when Stuelke shifts to Center. Heiden and Ogrady ate up almost all the center minutes.

Thinking it was just a weird side affect of Olsen being out.. could be wrong.

I doubt that there is any issue with Mallegni. With Olsen out ... we're more in need of ball-handlers ... that points more to Stremlow and Guyton. Also, I'd guess some of Mallegni's early extended minutes were attributable to trying to get Syd transitioned back into the flow of things. Now that Syd is getting more of her "groove back" ... there's going to be an expense.

By all accounts, Ava Heiden is bad-ass too ... however, O'Grady is earning minutes with her play.

Depth is never a bad thing. Players will get in foul trouble ... and we'll need young players ready to step up.
