Iowa vs KU seeding

if KU is a #1 seed, do we actually want a #2 seed to that we stay in Des Moines. How does it work of there are 2 #1 seeds near the site? If KU gets Des Moines does that move Iowa across the country?

Please no replies like "let's just play our next game" or "first we have to beat PSU". This is obvious. The point of the post is hypothetically speaking what might happen.

Committee will rank teams. They will go down the list assigning the highest ranked team to the most favorable pod. Iowa will likely be assigned Des Moines given our current ranking/projected finish and relative proximity.

We want whatever seed gets us into the Midwest Regional. Playing in Chicago for Sweet16/EliteEight would be incredibly advantageous

They other talk I've heard is being in East and playing sweet 16 and elite 8 games in Philadelphia. Fran going home and also where Iowa last played to reach final four in 1980.

Most bracket projections have Iowa as the #2 seed in the midwest or the #1 seed in the west...both scenario's we'd get to play in Des Moines for rounds 1 and 2. Iowa is almost a lock to play in Des Moines now as the only other schools that are even close are Kansas and Wichita State. I'd prefer them to get the 2 seed in the midwest so that their path to the final 4 is Des Moines then Chicago as opposed to the 1 seed in the west which would be Des Moines then Anaheim.

Both Kansas and Iowa could be 1 seeds and in DSM.
I don't know if that's technically possible, but I don't think it's ever happened.

You want to play in Des Moines. You should want to play in Des Moines as a #3 seed rather than play elsewhere as a #1 seed.

There was an interview with a tournament rep that said it's possible. 1st and 2nd round sites have no ties to the regions. So KU could be the 1 in the midwest and Iowa could be the 1 in the west but both could play in Des Moines.
