Hawks were the "hammer, and MU was the "nail".

If he thought they lost because of poor effort and his bad coaching he needs to try to figure out what his next profession is going to be. They got ran out of the gym by Iowa. Iowa is clearly the better team. No reason to not give credit where credit is due. Play that game 100 times tonight and Iowa wins 99 of them. I would have thought that he would use the way Iowa played tonight as an example to his team on how they need to play. That to me is just poor coaching. Seems like Coach K may need to give him some pointers on coaching. I've seen coach K compliment other teams.Couldn't happened to a more deserving upstart coach! Anyone listened to his comments about the game, he gave no credit to IA except they were exposed on everything (no mention of IA players, coach, etc), only blaming himself and his players' lack of effort. Can't wait for IA's Orlando tournament, 3 or 4 games on Thanksgiving weekend. I look forward to these games more than the holiday or shopping times.
Noticed the same thing.Watching the timeout speech he gave his players showed me why they lost. Dude can't coach. No presence. He babbled.
I didn't get to see the game but listened to he post-game while heading home. I was shocked that he never said one positive thing about the Hawks after being blown out.Couldn't happened to a more deserving upstart coach! This was my first experience watching Wojciechowski coach, and I was completely unimpressed. It goes beyond the fact that they got blown out. Iowa has been blown out many times under Fran. But Wojciechowski's demeanor on the sidelines, during timeouts, and in the press conference make me think that his act will wear thin with his players.
He seems to have one mode in coaching - and that is to yell at his players to motivate them to play harder. Compare this to Fran when Iowa has been blown out - he is very instructive in his post-game comments. He tells you exactly what the other team did that Iowa had trouble responding to.
A great example is when Creighton whooped us a few years ago in Des Moines. After the game Fran talked about how he felt the coaches tried to get too technical with the team in their defensive schemes. Fran said something along the lines of how Creighton moves the ball so well as a team, and the Iowa players were playing tentative because they were trying to remember the correct rotations in certain circumstances. Fran went on to say that going forward he will try to simplify the schemes so the team could play quicker. He could have gone into the postgame conference with a negative attitude like Wojciechowski and said how his players didn't put forth the effort that was required and that there were no positives from the game. Instead he used the moment as an opportunity for self-evaluation and noted the positives from the game (e.g., Iowa had only 8 turnovers against Creighton).
Wojciechowski could have praised his team for starting the second half on an 8-0 run when they could have simply given up after the game was over at halftime. Marquette also held even in rebounds despite the fact that Iowa made a much higher percentage of shots, or he could have pointed out that Marquette got to the foul line twice as much as Iowa did which could show that his team was attacking the basket.
Those last two stats (rebounds and free throw attempts) demonstrate that Marquette's problems were not related to effort. If Wojciechowski thinks that is their issue, then they have an even bigger problem.
