It is baffling. You’re a talented D1 center with strong rebounding skills but getting limited minutes/touches? At Iowa you are an instant double-double machine with immediate national exposure.
The only logical explanation is that the coaches just weren’t going to go the portal route absent a “sure bet” established player which never materialized.
I was really impressed with Stuelke. She picked up some really ticky-tack fouls, but when she was in, she really moved well and is going to be a really great complement to Caitlin this year.
Was O’Grady sick or hurt? Or have the coaches just decided to go exclusively with Goodman instead. Given what I’ve seen of the two, I don’t recognize a clear cut separation.
I'll never understand it either. the one that picked UCLA, she's probably playing in front of a couple thousand fans at most every game this year. or come here, score a ton of layups, make a final 4 and play in front of sell-out crowds the entire time. Just ridiculous.
I feel that Amoore's legs cramped up because Marshall made her work so hard.
Makes you wonder at times for sure....Ive asked myself many times how they get so close so often.

Our bench isn’t young at all.
She was a starter at ISU as a freshman. Last year her tearing her ACL was a big reason we floundered early on. Bluder let Taiwo graduate rather than take Y5 bc she was going to lean on Kylie as the first (and most versatile) guard off the bench. She is one of the quickest players we have, with size too. She and CC are very good friends and roommates so there’s chemistry. Two seasons ago she had a GREAT game in our season finale vs Michigan which earned us the regular season B1G title. In high school she was a sniper and also had a game-winning buzzer-beating 3 in what I believe was the national championship game for All Iowa Attack.
I think a lot of us rly underestimate how polarizing our team is. A lot of talented players simply would never come to Iowa after the Clark vs Boston and Iowa vs LSU narratives got to toxic.
UCLA is likely a one seed and a contender for the title. They and UConn are probably the two best bets. They may very well run away with the B1G title next year if they keep recruiting at the level they have.

Yes, I'm deflecting but I only started paying attention once Clark started making it interesting and last year was the first year watching was appointment TV for me. So, if they didn't play last year I don't know who they are.
She missed a couple gimmes, but tbh everyone did. She got called on a couple bullshit whistles. I think the game was too physical for the refs to handle.
I can’t buy that. I don’t believe Clark is “polarizing” and Iowa WBB is notorious for its family type environment.
Aside from a few big ego players, plenty of players would jump at the chance to play at CHA and be a contributor for a national championship contender.

All you have to do is go on twitter to see what LOTS of people have to say about our coach and team. It’s really unfair and even more dishonest. But the best way to respond is to just keep winning, something we did last night on a very big stage.

I heard on one of the instant reaction podcasts that she was in a boot and it must have happened Wednesday.
I don't think Bluder has a doghouse. I'm guessing unknown unannounced injury. Not the time of year to push stuff like that but I'm just speculating.
I too am puzzled but the Goodman negativity. She missed 2 years and hasn't played any meaningful minutes. One thing I learned over the last 2 years watching Monika Czinano (who I thought would never amount to anything) is that Jan Jensen is a pure rock star in developing the post. Goodman played some incredible defense last night and just needs (LOTS OF) minutes to refine her game.
Someone at the game said it was AJ Ediger in the boot not Addie. No mystery here. Sharon has passed her in the rotation. She started the Farleigh Dickinson game, when we all expected Addie to start. Then Hannah started at the 5 last night. With as deep as Iowa is now, this may be the rare year when Coach Bluder doesn't stick with the same starting lineup all year. It could change game to game depending on the opponent.
I think anyone who follows Clark doesn't believe she's polarizing. I think opposing fans watching Clark play aggressively, talk aggressively, and go all out every play def hate her.
Maybe it was. I wasn’t in position to see that there was a boot, let alone know who was in it. I thought I heard that on Kakert’s pod, but maybe it was one of the others. I thought Sharon looked lost early in the game, but she clearly got better as the game moved along.
Saw some twitter posts today saying no doghouse, no injury, just a coaching decision.
Cool. Doghouse would surprise me as that doesn’t seem to be Bluder’s vibe at all.
yes they're awesome, but the point for me is the attention she'd get here and the whole playing in front of fans thing. that's a once in a lifetime thing, even here at Iowa. and a star big like that on THIS team would be a fairly clear favorite.
