Iowa won't sell 4,000 tickets to a home NIT game

For the second round, yes.
First round NIT games are March 19 and 20. No conflict there. Second round are March 23 and 24 (Saturday and Sunday). Women's games will be either March 22 and 24 or 23 and 25.
I don’t believe we could play at carver on the 20th. Have to allow time to get the court ready, allow practice time for all the teams, etc.

I'm an Iowa basketball fan and I'm not fatigued with Fran...

I like Fran but think the program needs a reboot. If he stays, it will help that he doesn’t have a son playing on the team for the first time in a long time and if he were to hire a defensive specialist assistant coach. My fear is he pushes Patrick to return and does, we lose Perk, and he doesn’t do anything on the defensive side of the ball. Just really tired of the nepotism the last ten years in football and bball. Ready for fresh starts in both.

He's not going to do anything different regarding defense.

The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge it's a lack of interest. Fran could coach defense at the expense of offense if he wanted to but he doesn't.

Iowas program lacks a culture of taking defense seriously.

No one wins or loses pt based on defense, it's all based on how you perform offensively.

If you don't base pt on defense you'll never get the max effort out of most of the players and if you don't spend time working on the fundamentals of defense your players will never really understand it well enough to be good at it.

It might short term. But long term Fran is not the answer. He needs to go. He has already got his "long term"
After last nights game when they needed a stop and couldn’t get one, just pay him the buy out for being the all time winning coach and move on to Darren Devries and Tucker next year. If you keep Fran, it’s rinse and repeat from the last 14 years. And if you get rid of him, it prevents PMac from coming back and rejuvenates the program with a new coach that will endear himself with the fans. Let’s be happy again.

I'm liking where we are heading if everyone returns who can plus the new additions and a portal add or 2.
Actually 15 years, what happened to the angry posters back when she was at Iowa after the 14 year. Must not have cared that much for women's basketball back then.

Actually a good noise level for that figure.

It was a blast, glad I went. Thought it was going to be too late getting home for my kid, but my wife didn’t care and she wanted to go.

Good energetic crowd. Stood up and got loud. Very different feel than conference games. I wish Iowa crowds were always like this, even if it’s 4500 people.

Of the 9 NIT games Tuesday night, iowa had the 2nd most in attendance.

Providence 6,507
Iowa 4,532
Ohio State 4,517
UCF 4,164
Butler 3,478
Virginia Tech 3,183
Utah 3,137
Georgia 2,756
LSU 2,210
If they had played an hour earlier the crowd would have be larger. Game would have been over at 9:15, instead of 10:15. Parents could have taken their kids and been home at a decent time. It was 11:15 out East, late night. Glad I stayed up to watch.

Good job, Hawk fans!
Kudos to those who attended!

Glad the seniors did not end their Carver career with that Illini loss.

This is probably true but getting fans there has nothing to do with the scheduling decisions. All about TV ratings.

The crowd was loud because the fans wanted to be there and yell. Maybe a lot of fans who dont go to many games. The fans who sit on their hands were not there.

Iowa fans are just bored with Iowa men's bball even though the offense can score they dont win enough and when you watch total defensive meltdowns late in the shot clock all the time with Iowa players running around the court trying to get to open shooters .

And really is the offense super exciting with back door dunks, a wizard at pt guard driving and dishing amazing passes, no,

This year, we actually have pretty good defenders at guard (Tony and Dix), but otherwise, the defense is pathetic. Iowa's defense against the pick and roll regularly ends up with a wide open lay up. You would think they never practice it, because our centers get caught 20 ft from the basket, while their man is rolling to the basket. I don't know why teams don't run it against Iowa non-stop. Some teams have also figured out that you can isolate and drive against either Patrick or Krikke for easy baskets, Patrick totally backs off, and Krikke can't jump.

Ladji got lost several times on defense also. Need to clean it up.
But I do think we will have more guys in the rotation next year with defensive traits anyway. It's a start.
Ben actually had some knockaways last nite but PMac and Ben just do not have defensive tools.
