Gee, do ya suppose?Do you think he knew he was getting canned and that’s why he got tossed from the game yesterday. Kinda his own peace out?
Of course he knew.

I am hardly grief stricken. I'm glad for the change. I just would be lying if I said I felt NOTHING.I don't see how any Hawkeye fan could be grief stricken about this. He got twice as long as most coaches would get with his results. Add that to the nepotism with his boys and it's long overdue. He put his kids over the program, period. I just wish this would've happened years ago, but the timing could be perfect if we get the Drake coach. The curse of Iowa basketball is about to come to an end.
There's a saying in business and any organization: you don't want to be the person who immediately follows the failure. You want to be the person who follows the person who immediately followed the failure. Fran was the "gap" hire who sadly was allowed to stay for 15 years.![]()

Glad he got us over the lick years but it was beyond time to go. It was the same thing year after year with him.
Fran can't recruit elite PGs to compete in the B1G, let's bring in a D-II/MVC transfer to help kickstart the program. And we get Bennett Stirtz regardless of where McCollum goes?
Nah, pretty sure that's never been discussed on this boardAnyone else concerned they fall short on a quality HC due to how shitty their NIL program is?
The twitter says it is DeVries. So no.Anyone else concerned they fall short on a quality HC due to how shitty their NIL program is?
If Beth is worth her money she'll be able to sell a quality coach on the potential. That includes firing up donors, supporting businesses and the fan base. Any coach who can do that automatically will be viewed as a winner before they even put a team on the floor.Anyone else concerned they fall short on a quality HC due to how shitty their NIL program is?
I want a new coach, but I am slightly saddened for Fran. He is a good man.
I’m a good man too, but sometimes that’s not enough when results are what mattersI want a new coach, but I am slightly saddened for Fran. He is a good man.
Agree. A good man who gave us a lot of good moments. I respect him, but it was time.I want a new coach, but I am slightly saddened for Fran. He is a good man.
I think an imperative for any coach we hire will be to work with the Swarm to build the NIL program. The ideal candidate is someone who can win games AND raise money.Anyone else concerned they fall short on a quality HC due to how shitty their NIL program is?
Well that's obviously a reliable source of information. The twitter says it is DeVries. So no.
Nope - that’s why I took a halfzie! Is anyone else getting any work done today?
Because I'm not.
I had one after she gave BF his pink slip…😉Now I've got a crush on Beth.

Good luck with that! 😉Now I've got a crush on Beth.
You'd think an AD would always be cautious about a new coach with kids in position to play under him. That's always tricky to navigate. Almost a no-win.I don't see how any Hawkeye fan could be grief stricken about this. He got twice as long as most coaches would get with his results. No. DeVries at any cost. Now go get Ben after Drake's Sweet Sixteen run.
A good man who has millions and millions of dollars, so don't be TOO sad.I want a new coach, but I am slightly saddened for Fran. He is a good man.
Nope, because the new coach will generate new enthusiasm, and that will generate new NIL, renewed attendance . . . It's all good.Anyone else concerned they fall short on a quality HC due to how shitty their NIL program is?
Frost at NebraskaGod I hate the obligatory "Great guy, had his kids backs, they'd go to war for him..." shit.
Great. Who didn't?
Has a coach ever been let go, anywhere, for performance issues, and people said "Can't really feel bad about this one, Coach wasn't a nice guy, didn't have his kids backs, and nobody liked him"?
