I have seen it discussed a couple of times on here and there seems to be a pretty good split on if he should or shouldn’t go.

To me I think he has reached his max potential at Iowa. He has the size, avg athletic ability, and is one of the best shooters in the nation. He took a big step this year with his triple threat position being able to jab step and shoot with a hand in his face, his step back, and his shooting overall. Those are the skills that I see him being a really good role player in the league. I’ve heard the Duncan Robinson Comp a couple of times on TV but that is a far stretch as Duncan is fantastic moving without the ball and his release is super quick. That will be his role in the league tho. He is more of a Garrison Mathews or Matt Thomas type in the league imo with his ceiling being that of a Wayne Ellington or Duncan Robinson in the league.

In terms of drafting him, idk if he gets drafted but second round seems possible. IMO he will have to work through the G league to get on a team like a D rob or Garrison Mathews. He will be in the league making a splash but he is still a couple years from doing so but he needs to take that opp to get in the system and focus on the NBA. Plus the one and done is going to be done here in the next year or so, might as well get in the NBA system before that.

No. Europe is calling for Weezy.

Garza will play NBA for about 2 years and follow. If you cant jump more than 4 inches off the court, your ball is heading into the stands
See I think weezy is a way better prospect for the NBA compared to Garza. Weezy has what all NBA teams want and that is pure shooting. And like I said I don’t think he will be that much of a liability on defense. His skillz for perfect for the nba game.

Garza is a pretty damn good shooter as well. That's the ONLY reason he has a shot. When he's not getting hammered in the paint, he makes shots from all over the floor out to the 3 point line.

He is but his cons far outweigh his shooting imo. Being a big guy that isn’t athletic, can’t rebound, and guard is a big issue in the nba.

I love Weezy and what a great shooting touch! But being white, slow, relatively weak and unable to get open to shoot against good defense the NBA probably won’t be calling. As noted earlier in this thread, Wagner should have laid to rest any ideas of Joe leaving after this year.

Weezy usually disappears in big games/. Thats because he has a really good player on him. NBA is full of those type of players
That's true, but they also don't seem to care all that much about playing defense, so Joe will have his opportunities as an NBA role player, at best IMO.

He's good enough to make good money playing Sports for a living somewhere, we should all be so unfortunate..........

Which is why the G league would be the best route for him. His player makeup is perfect for the league.

JW could benefit from the offense running through him next year. He has the range but is pretty unpolished as a ball handler and needs work finishing at the rim. He could use work also with pulling up short and knocking down some mid range. Not saying he won't go but he is far from maxing out his College potential and development.

He also hustles his ass off to the best of his ability on every possession IMO, and very few NBA players do that in what little I watch of it.

For his sake or Joe W's sake I hope they both make it, but I won't be watching either way. This version of the NBA sucks and has for quite some time.

If I want to tune in to watch whiny/lazy Millionaires do their thing, I'll tune into an old episode of Gilligan's Island and see what Thurston Howell III and Lovey are up too.

I think it would actually be better for him to return for 1 more year. He has added to his game each year and the next step would be to see if he can be the first option. If he can get stronger, finish at the rim and/or make plays for others college might be the place to develop those skills which might not happen otherwise.

At this point, I think best case scenario for Joe is getting drafted in the second round. I think he'll end up in Europe if he wants to make the most of his talent. Another year in college could help him.
Agree. I think Joe needs to get much stronger. Hit the weight room this off season and another year of college ball. IMO, he would get mugged in the NBA without additional strength.

Not my first year on the planet Dumbass. I watched the NBA a great deal when I was young and dumb like you, then I saw it deteriorate into the shitshow it is today, and slowly but surely quit caring for the product, which leads to little watching.

And you're some d'bag fan that "thinks he knows what it takes to be in the NBA"! LOL!

“Back in my day blah blah blah...” Nothing like listening to a person start of stating “I have no idea about the subject at hand but let me tell you what I believe!!” #okboomer

The NBA game and the college game are so different. In the NBA, it's mostly about being flashy and entertaining the fans, especially with the 24 second shot clock. The college game and overseas pro leagues are still about the fundamentals.

Jesus haha. The fundamentals are still huge in the NBA.

Stupid decision by Fran. Joe at least looks a little similar to Kidneys in size as does Ke. to Wagner but they were switched around? Didn't get decision, at all.

Livers is just as good as Wagner if not better since he’s a Sr. You keep suggesting this but neglect that fact.

It was by far the most sensible matchups for the starters. Livers would‘ve destroyed Weiskamp in the post.

Michigan has the best front court in the country, that was the problem, not Fran’s defensive assignments.

Lol good stand up here.

Much, much too weak for the NBA. Not a knock on him.....he is a good player....just not NBA material at this point in time, IMO.

If you were smart which we've clearly already determined you arent, you would have said "yep, you nailed it and I'm a moron".

You being a moron isn't my fault, call your parents and tell them they failed (they're older, my guess is they already know, so probably best to pass and use the time to work on your sequined outfits).

Could see him getting picked ahead of Garza.

I love Joe. But he is not even a dominant college player. He "goes off" every once in a while, but only every once in a while.

He's probably the second most skilled offensive player on the team, and he averages 10.5 shots per game. He took 9 in the Michigan game - a game when points were very much needed. (BTW, CJ took 5)

Maybe he's tired of college basketball and wants to move on. Good for him. I just hope he's not dreaming of playing in the NBA. I just don't see it.

This is a given...whether he stays or leaves to play professional basketball somewhere, Iowa will put 5 players on the court and will finish between 9th and 4th in the BIG next year. That's about Iowa's ceiling every year they play under Fran...

Yeah. I mean, I don't watch the NBA in the regular season, really, but I start watching by conference finals. But even with what little I watch, NBA athletes are anything but soft. There are 150 starters in the league and those are among the world's best athletes. Saying Joe W or Garza may not make it is NOT an insult. Almost no one makes it because NBA athletes are world-class AND those that make it are as mentally tough as anyone anywhere. You have to be. Bare minimum.

I‘ve had the pleasure of sitting courtside a couple times, it is absolutely unbelievable to see these guys up close. It‘s just unreal, TV doesn’t do their size and athleticism justice at all. Hopefully in the next 5-10 years VR will improve enough so that anyone can have that experience anytime.

The thing that still impressed me most is something you can't get in VR: the experience of their mental toughness. I mean, I'm pretty strong mentally, but that's another level. You're getting to guru-level zen for guys like MJ, Kobe, and LeBron.
