Joe Weiskamp NBA next year?

Jesus Christ. The “mom’s basement” thing needs to be retired already.

Room over the Garage?

Attic?

Childhood bedroom?

Storage shed?

I don’t know ... just come up with something different. You’ve had at least 25 f*cking years....

Yah I had to stop arguing with that guy. The whole premise of his triggered response was so so #sad. I went the way of trolling but he still stuck with the whole a schtick of moms basement blah blah.

I think he’s gone. His only shot at the league is being a knockdown shooter, and his stock won’t get any higher. Shooting at nearly 50% from three, 6’6, and reasonably athletic (read: athletic ENOUGH) he will definitely get his chance to make it

Now you have the stats and me saying youre an idiot. You can find 100 players with similar stats. Europe is calling.Done yet?

In 11 games against teams that were ranked when we played them, Weezy averages 16.9 points, 7.2 reb, 1.7 assists on 52% FG shooting 55% from 3pt. Those are monster numbers, and you are trying to say he's bad against good teams? Lmao

Take a deep breath, it'll all be ok.

I have seen it discussed a couple of times on here and there seems to be a pretty good split on if he should or shouldn’t go.

To me I think he has reached his max potential at Iowa. He has the size, avg athletic ability, and is one of the best shooters in the nation. He took a big step this year with his triple threat position being able to jab step and shoot with a hand in his face, his step back, and his shooting overall. Those are the skills that I see him being a really good role player in the league. I’ve heard the Duncan Robinson Comp a couple of times on TV but that is a far stretch as Duncan is fantastic moving without the ball and his release is super quick. That will be his role in the league tho. He is more of a Garrison Mathews or Matt Thomas type in the league imo with his ceiling being that of a Wayne Ellington or Duncan Robinson in the league.

In terms of drafting him, idk if he gets drafted but second round seems possible. IMO he will have to work through the G league to get on a team like a D rob or Garrison Mathews. He will be in the league making a splash but he is still a couple years from doing so but he needs to take that opp to get in the system and focus on the NBA. Plus the one and done is going to be done here in the next year or so, might as well get in the NBA system before that.
Not ready yet. If he goes pro after this season, he'll need a passport.

Nice hashtag junior. Nothing triggered at all skippy. If that was the best troll you have, that's even worse. As I said previously, you don't have any valid argument, so you throw out #okboomer. It's feeble, childish, simple minded and overused by people much younger than you supposedly are (my 22 year old daughter doesn't even use it anymore and she does social media marketing for a living). It's ok to admit that you don't have the synaptic function to come up with valid counterpoints. All I'm saying is that if you don't have a valid rebuttal and #okboomer is the best answer you can come up with, just don't say anything. Pretty simple.

You think he'll be ready after another season of college ball? History shows 4 year guys don't tend to pan out. Playing another year in college doesn't magically make you ready to be successful in the NBA.

If I'm him i would be seriously considereding making the leap. Only reasons to stay are improving draft stock and competing for a championship. Assuming Garza is gone championship is not in the cards, and in terms of improving draft stock the guy is shooting almost 50% from 3pt this year.. do you really want to gamble that you are going to repeat those numbers especially without a guy like Garza to draw most of the defensive attention?

It’s already ok but don’t you have any pride? You lambast some kid for not having any response while parroting some lame ass phrase you no doubt heard on talk radio 30 years ago (and thousands of times since).

lol

ok boomer is fresh as a daisy comparatively.

You sound like a miserable prick. Maybe take a pottery class or something. Get out and meet some new folks. Learn some new phrases....

I wish I could but I have to ask my parents if it’s ok to leave the basement 😢

High quick release. Lanky 6-6. Good for a SG. Good rebounder from the position. Moves well off the ball. Great form and range. Hitting really good rate in 2021. OK defender. Mediocre athlete for NBA, but good enough if he has a specialty. Big knock is not a great passer. Not much of a finisher going to the hoop, but won't be asked to be. Not very physical.

Has a spot on an NBA roster if he can "fit in" and prove his worth as an outside shooting specialist.

My mother is a friend of a friend of a family member, 3rd cousin perhaps, and though nothing has been said to me I'm confident he's coming back, 45% sure. You're welcome for wasting your time.

Takes a miserable prick to know one fella. I've noticed that pattern from your posts many times over. At least I know I'm a jackass, unfortunately I think you just believe you're being edgy.

You might want to check national stats. Weezy is the poster child of a very good player. At best 2nd team Big, probably 3rd. Oh yeah, a player who is critized for being too timid and inconsistent is exactly what the NBA is looking for.lol

Check stats, 11th in scoring? And stat is just in this conference. Do you know how many draft picks there are? Not enough

Weezy’s gone as his stock is higher after this year than it will be next. He’s not going to have Luka to be the primary focus (and JBo to a much lesser degree as another secondary focus) to free Weezy up offensively. Next year he’d be the primary focus of opponent’s defenses.

I’d be surprised if Weezy returns & equally surprised if Weezy makes an NBA roster next year. It’ll be Europe or G League IMO.

I think Joe probably leaves but I think he should stay. If he returns, Coach will build the team around him and he might average 25+ points a game. He will be the number one option on offense. He can tighten up his handles and get stronger and extend his range. In short, he can make himself more desirable to the nba. He is not going to develop greatly in the G League.

At this point, I think best case scenario for Joe is getting drafted in the second round. I think he'll end up in Europe if he wants to make the most of his talent. Another year in college could help him.
He’s going pro. He’s a spot shooter and Garza gets double teamed every game. If he comes back, he will be worse

Oh sorry here's a national stat: Weezy has the highest 3pt % of any high major player in the country that averages more than 10ppg. Is that by chance something the NBA would be looking for? You are a clown

You realize there have been lottery picks who didn't even start or score double digits per game in college right? I truly hope you are trolling and not stupid enough to think the NBA just bases their picks off who scored the most in college. If that were the case Garza would be going in the lottery. There are #1 picks and current NBA allstars who averaged less than 15 ppg in college.

This is a given...whether he stays or leaves to play professional basketball somewhere, Iowa will put 5 players on the court and will finish between 9th and 4th in the BIG next year. That's about Iowa's ceiling every year they play under Fran...
Understand the critism of Fran. Unfortunatley we play in the best conference in the country. I would love to win the BIG. But we are currently 3rd place in the Big and ranked #5 in the country! To win the Big this year we would be the #1 ranked team! The only way we'll win the Big is when its a down year in the league or we get the best coach in the country. I don't know if thats possible.

Not my fight here, but what the heck....
1.) That phrase is much more likely to have originated from a Bill Mahr episode than a radio talk show.
2.) "OK boomer" is newer, but just as hackneyed and retarded...maybe more so.

And what has that gotten Garza? Another dominant year and playing on a very good team, but in terms of NBA status he hasn't really moved the needle it seems. Still not viewed as a first rounder despite his improvements at jump shots.

I don't think Garza made the wrong decision because he came back to play on a potential final 4 caliber team. Wieskamp isn't looking at the same caliber team if he comes back.

Joe's release is pretty long , not hair-trigger quick like his comps..Huerter, Reddick, and Duncan Robinson. If he cannot shorten it, they will block his shot in the NBA.
I think he could slip into the 2nd round late if he is extremely lucky but not likely.
I hope he returns but I.can see him viewing it as his best shot at a dream.

Another year in college could help him.
I concur.

Without Garza ...(or any dominant big man)... he'd get the chance to showcase his skills in both leading the offense and creating plays on his own, the second of which is a must to survive in the NBA.

I think if he wants to go he should go. I think he could be a guy that gets a two way contract and from there its just how much work you are willing to put in.

I don't think his critics realize how good he has been this year. He is the only guard in the conference that with a shooting percentage above 50%. He is 6th overall and the only players above him are centers.
He is 3rd in Effective FG% above Garza and only behind Dickinson and Cockburn.
7th in TSP%
One of the top FT shooters.
49% on threes shooting 7 a game is ridiculous.
Top 15 in the conference in defensive rebounding and is above Garza.
Top ten in the conference in win shares
Top 7 in offensive win shares.
4th in offensive plus/minus (15th nationally) and 9th in overall
