I guess I played against this guy in Juco. I don't remember an average-sized white guy from Kirkwood being a jackazz. It's hard to believe he wasn't this way his entire life though.

Courtney is the oldest. Her and her sisters are beyond great. You couldn't ask for better kids. I hope they all have success.
I guess. They’re also unvaccinated. It annoys me when so many people say they are great role models. I think they’re embarrassing. I was actually happy to congratulate ISU on finally beating us last year, it felt like they really earned it. That 5-0 win streak of ours was nuts, couldn’t believe it tbh. I saw them crying tears of joy after that game and couldn’t help but feel happy for them (I’ve rarely had ill will against ISU WBB, who are always a good team and otherwise seem like great kids; even if their coach seems like a bit of a douchebag). Anyway then I learned a month later (when the Joens girls had to miss the Baylor game) that they were, um, problematic and apparently stupid AF.

Also, if Ashley Joens rly wants to play in the WNBA, she is gonna have to get vaxxed. So I’m not sure what she’s waiting for. I hope blowing all probably their only chance at ever winning the Big 12 was worth it. That and ya know likely spreading a deadly disease to untold numbers of people.

Ashley and Aubrey both played in both games against Baylor last season.

Did the dad tell you the family wasn't vaccinated? If you're guessing or even have the knowledge, it's not your place to rail on them.
It's not that much different to eliminating abortion then forcing someone to get vaccinated, it's their body and everyone should have the right without fear of verbal abuse to do as they think is right.
I'm vaccinated and boosted, but that was my choice not anyone else's.
THAT'S WHY I GRATEFUL TO LIVE IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY, BUT FOR HOW LONG REMAINS TO BE SEEN!

Their dad posted it on Facebook lol. It was all over twitter and Reddit lol. MA Voepel even tweeted about I believe (bringing up the WNBA point).

But anyway, sure, do what you want, but it doesn’t make you less of an a**hole. Let’s stop pretending they’re role models or great kids — they’re clearly dumb at best and selfish at worst.

To be clear, Im not saying it should be a law to get vaxxed but it should absolutely be a requirement to play in NCAA sports. I work at a major university on the east coast and we have a no nonsense policy to even enroll. I had to have difficult convos with students who didn’t wanna get vaxxed. We kicked them out. My partner works in healthcare and had to fire multiple staff members for the same reason. All bc they were also — wait for it — dumb at best and selfish at worst. That’s just how it is here tbh. But we tend to give more of a shit about our fellow man than Iowa it seems. The difference in priorities / collective conscious is a major reason I’m grateful not to live in Iowa anymore tbh.

Again, sure, you’re free to do what you want, that’s your right. But accept the consequences. One consequence of choosing to not get vaccinated is that many people will know you’re an a**hole.

I’m just glad that by contrast, our star player went on IG urging all of her followers to get vaccinated so that we could all safely return to Carver and cheer on the hawks. That’s a role model.

I won't get into that. I knew them when they were babys, children and teens. They were the best players on our teams and were the sweetest kids. I will leave it at that.

I’m sure they were. Lots of very nice people make really bad decisions.

You sound like a guy who wears a mask to mow his lawn.
Lmao I don’t but I do wear them on planes still bc the first time I didn’t in June, I got sick AF — the first time I was sick since 2019 actually. I was on my ass for four days.

So yeah, I’d rather mask up then sit next to folks unmasked for 10 hours and risk dealing with that again. I don’t mask outdoors tho, not worth it — never really did tbh.

Your views of the T-19 vaxes is breathtakingly ill informed. The assumption of absolute moral authority appalling. You clearly reject actual science. Don't you care if a lot of people think you are an incredulous sheep?

You’re evidently an idiot.
Right, I’m the one who’s an idiot, bc I expect an athlete of her talent and prominence above all her PERSONAL REPUTATION (“they’re the sweetest kids”) to make a responsible, sensible, and commendable decision, which millions of dead people were never so easily afforded?

Got it, I’ll lower my expectations. That’s just fine. But people deadass walk miles across the african desert to get their kids vaccinated. Decisions of “role models” like Ashley Joens spit in the face of that kind of sacrifice.

I hope she grows up someday and understands that.

You appear to be, as you say about others, "dumb AF."

But as excited as you seem to be about interacting with players on Twitter it also appears you may be special needs, so I won't come out and say you are "dumb AF."
Lmao okay cute.

Edit: I don’t think I have ever interacted with any players on twitter tbh. Oh actually one time Kachine Alexander liked my tweet and then followed me. (Btw Im pretty sure she would agree with me on this argument as would most of the coaching staff / current players and, oh yeah, the majority of students at the university — but go on trying to act like I’m in the minority on this when we’re all talking about an institution that represents the bluest city in Iowa).

Two recruits have followed me. 2 people that I assume are parents/friends of players / recruits follow me. I have never DMd anyone lol. But thats about it. The only other “interaction” I’ve had with a player would be retweeting things that are retweeted by 100 other people already.

Yeah okay. Go spew your crazy on Truth Social, they’ll love you there.
Seriously. What a caricature. You cannot argue the data or the methodology so you employ a snarky remark that wasn't even original. Have you even followed the new narrative from the CDC? Your statements indicate that you have not. I guess that pesky data, e.g. factual reality and the logical conclusions to be drawn from that reality aren't necessary when you have absolute moral authority.

You aren't getting to spin the Covid hysteria around here without push back from the grounded. You're also not getting away with labelling everyone that disagrees as literally toxic to the general population. That's a NAZI level propaganda technique and you're getting called on that too. Those who disagree with you aren't anti-social vermin but free citizens that are free to reach such conclusions as make sense to each person.

Defending the "mask" position at this point is simply ridiculous, unless the wearer has some particular risk or is likely to be exposed to a significant number of potentially infected persons. Otherwise wearing a mask is just a an obsequious display of submission to political demand.

Yikes! I’ll just leave this here for everyone to enjoy :) Go hawks?
