Kris deserves to start

They were picked to finish 9-10th in the conference this season, a position I believe you agreed with. They're 7th now and you believe they should somehow be contenders but McCaffery is blowing it by sandbagging Kris?
It doesn’t matter where we were picked before the season started. Not 1 person in the country expected Keegan to be a 1st team all American. A nice player, certainly. Now throw in the other pieces and it’s clear we can be a tournament team. Now it’s up to Fran to use those pieces effectively. Yesterday would have been an absolute backbreaking loss up 23 in the 2nd half to a team with 7 scholarship players. It turned out to be a pretty good road win.

I will argue his point that we have three post players "who can score efficiently in the post." And if they're just in there to provide extra fouls and parading the other team to the foul line, we are going to lose games at the line. If that's me being obtuse, then so be it. Between the Ogundele and Mulvey, they have had ONE effective game stretch so far this season and that was at Purdue. Either of them, or perhaps both of them, may eventually become productive members of the team, but neither are ready for that now.
It's primarily Rebraca for scoring out of that position and between the 3 in conference that position is averaging 9.5 points on 56% shooting, 8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Nothing Garza like but it's the best we've got right now. This team's problem isn't scoring. It's defense and rebounding. Those 3 are needed at the post if for no other reason than to play defense and rebound. Would you care to guess who the weakest rebounder and defender statistically is by far in the top 5 of Iowa's frontline?

I will agree that of the 3, Rebraca is the better scorer (although both Ogundele and Mulvey are very efficient)

i do think ther value isn’t “fouling to parade other teams to the line…” as Ogundele played well vs the Purdue bigs, well vs TJD in the 3 1v1 possession TJD had the ball (forcing a pass out, a missed shot and a foul with 1-2FT) and zero offensive boards allowed, and held his own in 2 minutes vs Kofi.

I think there is valu in Ogundele playing 1v1 in post vs the double team which always seems to leave a Guy open for a wide open 3 FGA.

I only wish Fran would give him the minutes…

No, I never even looked at or thought about where they were picked to agree or disagree with it because those things don't matter.

I never said anything about being contenders. You made that up.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out if you're not playing your best players the team will not meet its potential.

It’s funny that the vultures are circling after a road win. The next loss will be fun, guaranteed.
