Those "volunteer" umps are voted best in their districts during the regular season. That should tell you how bad the other one are.

Here's the thing. You wouldn't have the balls to ump that game. Umpires are human. So, stfu.
Those boys fought hard to get back in the game! I hope they win the next one, but either way the represented Iowa well. Great game, I was yelling and clapping like it was a Hawkeye football game.
"up in arms"......yes people are arming themselves they are so upset. Hyperbole much? The ump made a bad call. The kid was rattled after that. Iowa's not great defense, especially early in the game, is what cost them them today, but they had an epic comeback, and it was disappointing to see a bad call towards the end have affect on the game.
Thought the home plate ump was favorable to Iowa all game. Of course, I missed the last inning.
Iowa got several calls go their way that were too close to overturn (or correct) on replay.
Sucks they lost after fighting back. This was the first game that Ive actually seen with a decent strike zone. Lots of runs and mostly on putting the ball in play. I did miss the bottom of the 6th, so I’m not sure what happened other than the L for Iowa.

The Iowa football forum on this website calls opponents out for calling out the refs. But, it's OK here?
It was a bad call…it is what it is. I thought they called a good game and I’ve umpired little league baseball before…I admittedly sucked and I thought the parents took it a littLe too seriously so I do get what you’re saying.,.
I don’t think it’s “calling out” the refs for bringing up a bad call….and in a earlier post I said they called a good game.

Per google, broadcast rights are about 9 million. A 2018 audit reported income of 34.9 million. I think they could pay umpires.

Mound visit at the end, the Iowa kid informs his team that they’re trying to make these games close because they’re on ESPN (ABC). Home plate ump comes out and says something I couldn’t hear.
The strike zone in Williamsport has been way better than the regionals leading up to there. There have been some consistency issues and a few fooled on breaking balls, but IMO way better than the regionals.

Heard that. Kid is all about the conspiracy theory and coach basically say we can't help that the ump sucks. Stay classy D-port.
And immediately after got a gift strike call. It wasn't even close.
They're kids they are going to say dumb things sometimes. Miking the coaches is silly it caught the other team's pitcher almost in tears begging to be taken out. The broadcast spends way too much time talking about other stuff instead of the game, but they don't let the coaches have a private conversation with their team.

He's a heck of a pitcher as well.
Agree, He is fooled by curveballs far more than the kids, Seems to call it for both teams so he is consistent.
