Little League World Series is…..

When they said Davenport hadn’t been to Williamsport since 1976 was he talking just SE?? Because this is at least the 3rd time Davenport has sent a team in the last 20ish years. Eldridge had one go also.
Yea wasn't Julian Vandervelde on one?

2000 - Davenport East
2003 - NS
2004 - Davenport NW
2005 - Davenport NW

Des Moines area has been pretty well represented since then.
Davenport NW has no shot anymore unless they break up the SE league.

The SE league is the SE side of Davenport as well as the entire city of Bettendorf and LeCLaire. Eventually Bettendorf/PV/Leclaire will need to branch off. It really should be called the Bettendorf little league.

Hey, I'm happy with the win, but Webb City kinda got screwed in the last few innings on balls/strike calls.

Kinda infatuated with the blonde milf with the tats, btw.
I dont know how you can say that. (Not the milf part, the balls and strikes part).

At least the ump was consistently inconsistent for both teams starting in the 6th inning.

Meh. If that ump doesn't suddenly tighten up his strike zone in the bottom of the sixth, the game most likely ends with Davenport on top without going to extra inning(s).

Perhaps, but Iowa's 3rd run was also a result of some poor calls.

I thought I heard earlier in the week that these umps were volunteers.

Maybe you should find better umps and pay them?

Why should I be in charge of finding and paying Little League umps? I don't have any kids in Little League.

Then you’d be perfect for the job. We won’t have to worry about you trotting your terrible umpiring kid out there game after game.

We solved this issue.

Why should I pay school taxes when i don't have any kids in school? Oh that's right because when I went to school others paid school taxes for my education.

Little League umps are volunteers. A friend of mine umped the Southern regionals for the 13-14 year old boys last week (he's done southern regionals in girls softball a time or two previously). He's graded out very well in them, and after last week received his official "World Series recommendation." I think the umps for this year's WS have already been selected, but he'll do a WS next year (age group tbd).

I'd prefer a team from the northern part of the state....... ;)
As someone that lived in North Iowa for 40 years, there simply aren't any good organized programs.

A couple of the better Mason City kids play for DM/WDM teams.

Not sure why that area never got going.

I should add that there's one program director in Des Moines that doesn't like his "majors" teams kids playing LL. Thinks they develop bad habits by swinging at bad pitches because the level of pitching isn't as good.

They are kind of land locked compared compared to the other Davenport leagues...it looks like everyone got a piece of what used to be Central Little League, and West and Emeis merged...Bettendorf used to have their own Little League back in the day, but that's part of Southeast now too...

My brother won't let my nephew play LL...he's been USSSA since he was done with t-ball...he plays for one of the DM area teams...said he was skipping 12U next year to go right to High School Prep?

Never got that serious with my son, except for the year he got the "brilliant" idea to play Little League, Travel, Cal Ripken, and Mustang (PONY) at the same time! Good thing each ball park was 5 minutes from our house...
May I ask which DM area team?

As someone that lived in North Iowa for 40 years, there simply aren't any good organized programs.

A couple of the better Mason City kids play for DM/WDM teams.

Not sure why that area never got going.

I should add that there's one program director in Des Moines that doesn't like his "majors" teams kids playing LL. Thinks they develop bad habits by swinging at bad pitches because the level of pitching isn't as good.
Why isn't "majors" the league that funnels teams to the LLWS?.................

Difference of opinion? Style? Arrogance? All of the above?

My knowledge for youth travel baseball ins and outs is right about up there with my patience for golf and soccer snobs...........

Yeah, trying to figure this out. My son is 11 and plays 12U here in ATL (Dizzy Dean, travel, etc.). Those 12u are leading off, USSSA bats, the pitching mound is further back and the base paths are further (10 more ft I think).

These LL kids are no doubt talented, but wonder how it matches up.

Why isn't "majors" the league that funnels teams to the LLWS?.................

Difference of opinion? Style? Arrogance? All of the above?

My knowledge for youth travel baseball ins and outs is right about up there with my patience for golf and soccer snobs...........
I probably came across as a bit snobbish with my statement.

From what I've seen from watching USSSA for 10 years, AAA level is LLWS level baseball. Majors is just better. But remember, most of the LLWS kids are a combination of the best kids in that city.

About maybe 6-8 years ago, Johnston Iowa was represented in Williamsport. It was an All Star combo team of DM area kids.

Funny because the Kelly kid lives in a small town west of Davenport.

Then he’d have to get a waiver from Emeis or whatever district is closest to his residence releasing him from their district.

Even if his house doesn’t fall within a said district, he’d have to play for the nearest one without a waiver.

I wasn't taking a shot at you. Just getting a subtle dig in at golf and soccer fans. Many are very arrogant about the fact that they have intimate knowledge of a sport that fewer people actually care about...... ;)

That arrogance decreases as you go through the more popular sports.

He must have because he lives west of Davenport.

I don’t think it’s all that uncommon to get a waiver if he lives outside of the actual boundaries and doesn’t go to school with kids from a district.

Just depends on that little league district.
