March 14 Joe Lunardi / ESPN Bracketology: IOWA is on the Bubble (7th Team OUT). #59 NET Ranking (8th Best in B1G) on March 14

Great, I did not realize that
No other college bball games being played I guess. You one of those guys who says fans shouldn't look ahead? As a fan, we need to be focused only on the next game in front of us!
Not sure what the big deal is.

Rose said it in his post himself. "Beat Illinois and not falter in first round of BTT and Iowa is surely in."

That make Iowa vs Illinois THE most important game. Seems like a valid contribution to the conversation to me

Would be awesome if Illinois beats Purdue tonight. Really might solidify a spot if Iowa beats them on Sunday.

A win on Sunday gives 4 Quad I wins in 6 games I believe. That may be enough. 1 BTT win should do it. They’ve really elevated their game these past 2 weeks. It would be shame to miss out now after scrapping this hard to get back in the conversation. I sold them short earlier (I don’t think I’m alone), but they’ve changed my mind. Now they need to finish the climb.

I promise you don't want Illinois coming in with an opportunity to clinch a share of the regular season Big Ten title with a W in Carver.
Nah, we want Illinois to win tonight. Then, on Sunday, Purdue will have wrapped up the title by beating Wisconsin at home several hours before the Illinois/Iowa tip.

It really is set up for the hawks to take advantage.

Agreed could go either way- and for all we know the pressure on IL could throw them off. They've just got enough veterans that I think it'd be more motivation than pressure. Either way, time will tell :) Would like a repeat of the game Weezy dunked at the end and pissed them off (2020 I think?)

I had this thought process as well, though what if we lose to a Penn State or Maryland on a neutral court to wrap up the season. 😬

It sure would be nice to erase all doubts and beat Illinois at home and then win on Thursday and Friday in the Big Ten Tournament.

Otherwise, if we lose to Illinois, how many games would we have to win in the Big Ten Tournament? Would 2 wins be enough?

I believe it would be. One of those would likely be quad 1.

I fear the IL loss + 1-1 in BTT scenario.

If Iowa goes 2-1 over their next 3 games should they be in?

And would that include the scenario of losing to Illinois at home and then winning their first two games in the Big Ten tournament?

I’m not very into the weeds on this but it looks like tonight we Hawkeye fans are hoping for Michigan State over Northwestern and Indiana over Minnesota. Is this correct?

Probably? But I think at least one of those BTT wins has to be against a good team.
I think the hard part about the bubble is the answer is almost always "it depends". It's easy to say that if X happens Y will be the result, but the truth is other teams could also go on runs here or pull off big upsets and complicate things. Like what happens if both the AAC and A10 are actually bid thiefs and then teams like UNLV and Oregon go out and win their conference tournaments? Now all of a sudden all of us bubble teams are sweating big time.
Wake Forest is a great example of this--everyone wants to say they are done for after last night's result, but they play a Q1 home game on Saturday against Clemson and then could play a middling ACC team before facing Duke or UNC in the ACC tournament. They go 3-1 with two big Q1 wins and they are right back in this thing.

Unfortunately, we don't play games in a vacuum. So we largely don't control our own destiny outside of winning the entire BTT.
