Some of it is perspective. Cade’s injury move him into that type of bucket potentially, but he got beat out by a better player, it doesn’t necessarily mean Cade is a turd. (He certainly played like one for us, but he is a shell of what he was at UM).
I can speak more to the TAMU situation, where Weigman was inconsistent and was replaced by a true dual threat qb that was a better fit for a new scheme. While it would be hard to argue that Weigman is a declining “stock,” he offers a team like Iowa solid value, potentially.
His first two years he posted 16 TD’s and 2 INT’s, and had gotten to a shade under 70% completion percentage. This year, the stats are not great. It would be worth understanding why.
As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
But I like that we are looking around, maybe there is someone more clearly on the upswing that provides less risk transitioning into our scheme.
