My official take on Tuesday's results . . .

Love your column on the Other board but sadly we dont agree on politics! I was actually 'kind of late' impressed with her concession speech but I think the real issue with her is she said she wouldnt change a thing from Biden . Democrats should had a quick Primary because she probably would have lost that and maybe had someone in there that could have done better. GO HAWKS!
I've said it a million times, I said it in THIS COLUMN and I'll say it one million more - my opposition to Trump has absolutely nothing to do with politics. As I pointed out, I've known he's a racist, self-absorbed, lying, grifter since he was a DEMOCRAT in the 1980s and was called to task for it by a few brave publications in New York while the NY Times/Post and others suckled his balls.

The man is a pig of a human being, morally bankrupt and a cancer on this country. And would/will be regardless of having an R or D behind his name.

I do appreciate that you like the TwT column though! Thanks for reading :)

A lot to agree with here.

This message is why I caucused for Bernie in 2016.

America is not ready for that message yet, however. We are too decadent and fat and happy while being tricked into being pissed off and aggrieved. Once we have legit reason to be aggrieved - and it is likely coming sooner than we hope - I expect his messaging to resonate among a much larger group of people.
The dems really f'ed up if the working-class people relate more to Trump. My theory is Trump woke up a very large population of lower-IQ Americans who normally would have nothing to do with politics. The folks who "want their country back" and believe everything the conman from NYC says.

Put up a poll and ask which "douche" this board would rather see leave - me or you.

I will abide by the result.

Or don't, you fat-mouthed f-----ing coward.
It’s funny that you call someone a coward. When you hide behind a keyboard all day. You’re too big of a pussy to step out into the real world.

People in China fish and drink. So do Russians. I presume North Koreans and Argentinans and Nicaraugans as well.

Millions of people on the globe have, do and will live under autocratic governments. There is absolutely nothing "exceptional" about America and that "shining beacon on a hill" bullshit was always just that - bullshit.

Might as well enjoy what we can.
Oh my god shut the fuk up you baby back bitch.

america is the greatest nation and while it has its blemishes - and now is another one- to diminish its greatness because you’re in your feelings is absurd.

You, a self-proclaimed upper middle class white dude, are going to be just fine.

I live in NW Iowa and drive truck, The signs and flags for a Huge Trump victory was everywhere and most are either farmers or low to middle class people. Iowa used to be a swing state but them days are over for the forseeable future so thats what ive been saying is the Democrats have lost the working man for the most part.

Well in 4.2 years he will be gone and we will have a new president.

This will likely be my last politics-related post for awhile as it is now abundantly clear a majority of American voters cannot think rationally about governance.

So I'll stick to sports, booze, fishing and other topics that interest me for the time being.

But in case you are wondering what my take is on what just happened, feel free to read it here:

I find it cute that you believe a majority of Americans can’t think rationally about governance but it never occurs to you that you are the one that is wrong. It has been obvious to many of us for a long time.

America is not special. Maybe was once. Hasn't been for some time.

And that's OK.

The sooner people come to terms with it, the better.

In a lot of those countries you would be in a labor camp for being a worthless leech. Also you would be stoned for having relations with little flick. So I would call America an exceptional place. You should be thankful.

Well the newly elected administratin has said it's committed to eliminating vast swaths of the government and disempowering other institutions.

That is not governance. That is chaos.

If that's what American voters want, they can live with the consequences. And they very likely will be dire.

I didn't vote for trump and feel the same way about him, but I'm looking on the positive side of things. I'm in my low 60's and will retire in 4-5 years, so I really don't care how much debt he causes as long as my investments grow. Once I'm retired I'll just sit back and laugh knowing I won't ever have to pay the bills that trump created. I guess you can call me a grifter.

You always were a grifter.

I'm not going to badmouth anyone who wants to hunker down and hope for the best.

That's pretty much where I am now.

And like I said in the column, I'm 100% sincere in hoping me and every "Never Trumper" are all Chicken Littles.

The two things that give me the most pause, however, is that we are now definitely going to do nothing about climate change for at minimum the next four years if not longer - and we really can't afford that - and what will happen to prices if he actually enacts tarrifs and deports the majority of our agricultural workers. That will make the Biden inflation years look quaint.

Maybe it’s not special to you but try telling that to millions of people who’ve immigrated here for a better life, the people who’ve died to protect our natural rights, the ability for social mobility and countless other reasons.

But I don’t expect you to understand. You’re not an average person who lives paycheck to paycheck. Wonder why that is? Maybe it’s because hard work and your wife’s business acumen allowed you to prosper. Must be a real shit country for things like that to happen.

Which of the more than 2000 government agencies are you going to miss the most?

The most duplicative ones? The hundreds you never new existed? The most wasteful ones?

Chaos I tell you!

I’ll take the bait and respond to the cry fest and refusal to take any blame why your party got trounced. Ironic the whole trump will try to imprison his counter parts. Remember 4 years prior when he did that and even though he had the lock her up chants with Hillary do you remember all those on the opposing side he threw in jail? Yeah me neither. Meanwhile people literally campaigned against him promising to do just that.

The whole dictator comment was literally him saying to the ? Are you going to be a dictator “no, no, no other than day 1.” Which just like Biden and so many presidents before him enacting executive actions like the border his first day in office. You’d think being some type of writer you’d be above taking quotes out of context.

Talk of women’s rights but yet the left stays silent as men literally play women sports and if not for Supreme Court tried to re-write title IX. Which poll after poll shows Americans oppose men participating in women’s sports or being in their lockers rooms from youth to pro level.

Bring up Ukraine and chance of nuclear war. You forget zero wars during trumps 4 years and how many more last 4? But talk about abandoning a country ask all the women in Afghanistan, those citizens who helped us how things are going on top of the 75 billion left. And the excuse with trump had an agreement in place. Funny of all the things Biden agreed to honor from previous administration that’s the one thing which taliban broke the agreed upon things anyway. Love the left obsession with Jan 6th and one time you stick up for the police. I remember summer of 20’. How as law enforcement we were treated and violence me and my fellow co workers faced. Stories of friends out of state and horror stories and injuries people incurred. So spare me with that.

Lastly the whole threat to democracy but your party literally did a coup against sitting president and threw in a candidate that won 0 delegates 2x she ran for president. You lose the argument or have nothing left when you have to play the hitler nazi card. Hilarious coming from a guy who supported Bernie the socialist who loved the Soviet Union. I could go on and on. End of the day the MAJORITY elected trump (which by the way that’s part of democracy) and big part is they were tired and fed up with last 4 years. From inflation due to biden spending like a drunken sailor, catering to the woke, party of defund the police, and prioritizing illegals over our own citizens.

you lost and your post is like people on the football board on steroids complaining about how the refs lost us the game instead of taking responsibility and looking into the mirror and examine why my team lost instead of looking at what my team/party did wrong. Btw why trump won they learned from 20’ mistakes. By posting this don’t get butt hurt when people like me call you out. You brought it on yourself with creating a thread and posting your article like a sore loser.

I’ll take the bait and respond to the cry fest and refusal to take any blame why your party got trounced.
Are you kidding me? The Democrats have been dumbasses throwing out horrendous candidates since Hillary. The last decent POTUS candidate they had was Barak Obama. None of that discounts the fact Donald Trump is absolutely unfit for the office and a steaming pile of human excrement and has been for decades.

American voters just wiped their ass on the Constitution by re-electing a traitor.
I agree as I said America has and will
Always have blemishes but thst didn’t negate the fact we, as a country are not still a beacon of hope and prosperity

People don't like to hear the truth.

They like fairytales and bullshit and reality TV.

That's why yesterday happened. Now we all deal with the consequences.
I appreciate your incites, although I don’t agree with much if it. I also don’t think articles like you wrote really help heal the division within this country. We still have a democracy and in four years Trump will be gone from the presidency.

Your first sentence above that…people don’t like to hear the truth…they actually do, which is a reason that it was such a landslide victory for Trump. Americans got tired of being fed lies during the Biden administration: inflation is transitory, the southern border is secure, crime is down, Russian collusion, Joe Biden is in good cognitive condition, CTR isn’t being taught in schools, the DOJ isn’t targeting parents at school board meetings, and on and on.

Like you I’m tired of talking politics for a while. Go Hawks!

Hope you weren't hoping on utilizing Medicare or Social Security!

Way to go, Mr. Bootstraps!
Your party just got shit-canned for lying to the folks (Joe? Oh he's more vigorous than 10 men).

Stop lying about Medicare and Social Security and, as pointed out above, "dictator on day one" nonsense.

Can't see just a little bit of fat in 2000+ government agencies? Lol.
