Stop that!Every time I look too far ahead, Iowa loses and it doesn't matter.
They have a great pre-game light show.2 Iowa vs 15 Grand Canyon
And heres another NCAA committee item...Oklahoma State is actually ineligible, but they appealed it, and I don't believe the NCAA has ruled on that appeal, so since they haven't, they are then allowed in....Can you say Cunningham and TV Ratings??
Which is a total crock. And heres another NCAA committee item...Oklahoma State is actually ineligible, but they appealed it, and I don't believe the NCAA has ruled on that appeal, so since they haven't, they are then allowed in....Can you say Cunningham and TV Ratings??
Recruiting violations. But ho hum got a waiver once Cunningham showed up..I did not know they were ineligible...what was their deal?
Thats true Fran, BUT Illinois was ranked right up there as well, and Michigan surprised everyone. Other then the games with the Hoosiers and the one that got away in the barn the Hawks handled their business. As for the BIG tourney the top seeds all advanced (except for a 4-5 flip with OSU over Purdue, and that almost never happens. That put Iowa up against a higher seeded Illini team, ( a team playing the best ball in the league right now), and we hung in and didn't wilt after getting down 14 in the second half. I seriously think this Hawk team makes the elite 8 this year, and we'll see what happens from there.....Suter, I have to say, I thought we had enough GREAT shooters around the best player in the country to win the B1G.
We sure as heck did not play up to preseason B1G rankings (we were the preseason favorite to win the B1G and ended up a distant 3rd).
If we are truly the 5th best team in the country, it's time we show it & make at minimum an Elite 8 appearance for the 1st time in 34 years.
I would take Tech. They play a slower brand of B-ball, and that’s a team we match up well with.I don’t want any part of Texas tech in a second round matchup.
We don’t match up with them well at well. They’re Indiana on steroids.I would take Tech. They play a slower brand of B-ball, and that’s a team we match up well with.
Agree to disagree. I think that’s a team we would beat.We don’t match up with them well at well. They’re Indiana on steroids.
@Suterman do you remember the royal screwing we got the last time we were a # 2 seed?? I do, I was there. As a # 2 we get sent to Tucson to play at the McHale Center ( home of Lute's Arizona team )vs. # 15 Santa Clara with the winner to play, you guessed it, the 7 - 10 matchup between UTEP and Arizona. Fortunately Arizona choked, getting outscored 12 - 4 to end the game as Lute went into his modified 4 corner stall as the shot clock was 45 seconds at the time. Somehow with 3 starters fouled out UTEP won the game and we didn't have to face Lute and # 10 Arizona on his home court. Arizona had like 5 NBA draft picks, plus future MLB star Kenny Lofton and Steve Kerr was unable to play due to a major knee surgery. Great trip. We played some pickup bb vs. some locals in the " Bear Down Gym ". Wished I could relive the memories of that week in '87...This. It certainly appears we are a 2, but until I see it, we've been screwed before.
2 seed vs Oral Roberts please..
Excited to be relevant on a Selection Sunday again. Feels good man.
Assuming Illinois and Alabama win today, I think the most likely scenario is:
1. Gonzaga
2. Illinois
3. Baylor
4. Michigan
5. Alabama
6. Iowa
7. Houston
8. Ohio State
Puts us with Baylor and avoids all big ten 1-2 matchups.
CBS still fawning over Illini.
It may be that they're trying to make a case for AYO=POY.That photoshop during the game yesterday, of the 3 announcers in AD's mask, said all I needed to know about who CBS was unabashedly favoring, both yesterday and today....
Good for you guys!! EnjoyI'm in New Brunswick watching the B1G championship game with 100 + other RU fans waiting to hear Rutgers announced for the first time in 30 years. ♥
