Non-stop hurricane warnings!

Using fossil fuels to power the plants that build the turbines, then using fossil fuels to bring them on site and erect them, then using even more fossil fuels to keep them from freezing.

Florida gets lots of rain in the summer.

Anyway, the predictions of 47 hurricanes this year looks to be in jeopardy.

People love to make fun of guys in lifted trucks. Well guess what Prius guy, I saw no less than 4 of you floating away in the streets lol. I’m not even joking, my drive from the gym to our place in Treasure Island(normally 10 minutes) took me 45 minutes because I had to sift through the fallen and not get swept away myself. It was nuts.

Maybe you should have stopped and bench pressed those beta cars out of the water instead of going to the gym.

I flew in around that storm last night. We got another one today. All the roads north of downtown had one lane flooded.

US-92/Hillsborough Ave is flooded in both directions west of the airport. The southbound exits at Dale Mabry were both closed due to flooding. After the tropical storm a month or so ago, both of the Dale Mabry exits were closed for several days due to flooding.

US-92/Hillsborough Ave at Hanley Rd. When I drove past this at 9:30, the sheriff had this blocked off in both directions because dum fuk Floridaman is too lazy to turn around and find another route.

The news media down here in Florida can't stop talking about hurricanes! It's gonna be the worst season ever due to high ocean temps in hurricane alley! Get prepared! Get scared! Get ready for the big one (or many big ones)! Panic, everybody.... PANIC!!!!! Let's scare all the insurers out of the state!

Every freaking day in my local fish wrap. Every freaking day on tv. Every freaking day on the internet "news" sites. Non-stop talk about the upcoming hurricane season!

I really hope all this click-bait crap falls flat on its face. Yes, I believe we'll have a busy hurricane season, including many dangerous ones. But that doesn't mean everybody needs to FREAK OUT! I've lived through many hurricanes and they suck, but it's not the end of the world. I've even stood in the eye of a major hurricane (Wilma) and my house did not suffer any significant damage.

But most importantly, even if it is a busy season that does not mean we'll get lots of landfalling, major storms. That depends on many factors beyond sea surface temps.

But let's not let reality stop the hype! Nope... keep the hysteria going! That sells.
This was spot on.......they failed in their hype so far.

Most of Florida is karst limestone that can absorb a ton of rain quickly. There must have been an ungodly amount of rain there to cause major flooding.

If you look how close Hillsborough Ave and Hanley Rd are to the water, it’s likely that area was originally some kind of swampland that was filled in.

The Hyde Park neighborhood in Tampa is filled in former swamp. It had a ridiculous amount of flooding until we had a citywide tax increase to fix all the lack of drainage in S Tampa.
