Between the Covidiots at the NCAA, the injuries, the coaching or in some cases lack thereof, wasting money in a womens program. Iowa has fallen short of expectations and not able to compete at Carl’s level. With wrestlers Lee, DeSanto, Eierman, Lugo, Bull, Kemerer, Warner, and Cassioppi you have a combined 3 individual titles and all those are Lee’s and on top of that one team title. I’ve resigned to the fact it just isn’t going to happen for Brands and company and that is a shame. Disappointing just doesn’t cover it, as this time around you had the horses to do it.

What isn’t true about it? I’m not blaming anyone specific person, mostly a collection of unfortunate circumstances

Definitely agree. If they didn't spend money on the women's program the results this weekend would have been very different.

what's your IQ?
More money allocated for wrestling wouldn’t be beneficial I guess.

trust me my IQ dwarfs yours, pun intended

I’ll go at this from a different approach. Everyone is frustrated, I think that’s apparent. These young men have also put their bodies and hearts on the mat for Iowa. I’m damn proud of them. Breaks my heart to see eierman slap the mat when he knows he cant go any further. Breaks my heart to see desanto not be able to finish on RBY. Same can be said for Marinelli and kemmerer and their issues.

I’m proud to back these kids. As you get older the way they present themselves on the mat and in life holds a lot more weight than just their spots on the podium.

I don’t disagree with any of this. Just a shame circumstances got in the way of this group achieving more on the mat.

As unpopular of a take it might be , I have no interest in women's sports . Especially wrestling. It's just a lower quality of competition.

While admittedly I am a relative newcomer to women’s wrestling, I have become a big fan. The strength, conditioning, technique, and competitive ferocity that I have seen from the top women are awesome. I think the future of women’s wrestling is bright, and I applaud Iowa for leading the way.

So is Iowa's mens program compared to Penn States, but you still watch Iowa over them.

I don't watch women's sports. As for my fan affiliation, I'm a penn state grad and fan.
I know the title IX stuff so if PSU adds a women's team I won't be watching them.
Fwiw I don't watch sports other than PSU football ( and not much other college football ) and PSU wrestling . No baseball, basketball, or NFL except the playoffs. That's it, I'm not a sports guy.

If people enjoy it fine, people like what they like.

Much has been said regarding some sort of PSU "secret sauce" in the wrestling workout room, but the eye test between the Iowa Wrestler vs. Michigan and PSU could explain part of the difference we see on the Team Score board, yes? To be totally honest, the 6 PSU finalist all appeared more muscular, more developed neck, shoulders upper chest...to the point of looking larger than most of their opponents. I realize, they are all comply to the weight limit of their respective weight class, but is this just me? Do they do more specialized weight training? Could this eplain some of the difference?

So scratch PSU football from your watch list. Unless you are separating free and folk then psu wrestling is done as neither qualifies as ‘the best’ if you separate free and folk then enjoy psu wrestling

What part of personal choice don't you grasp? Women's sports suck imo, I have no interest in any of them unless I have a friend or relative in it.
Other sports lost me over the years due to various changes like expanded playoffs . I grew up watching psu football and enjoy it.

They're just better. To me there are plenty of other jacked guys out there. Most of the finalists looked pretty fit imo.

No big deal , over the years I've bristled at the I have to "like something" based on some affiliation. If psu started a women's wrestling team I wouldn't watch .
I don't watch their basketball teams , hockey teams , or any other sports outside the two I mentioned .
Wrestling is my favorite because it's one on one with both being the same weight. Best man wins .

Okay. If you want to watch the best of a certain sport why do you watch PSU football?

College sports were not created for the fans. They were created to be an extension of and a complimentary addition to an education for the students. Which is why Title IX came about: to make sure the opportunities were balanced between male and female students.

Which is also why claiming they “wasted” money on the women’s team is a terrible take. Not only is the prospect of a world class women’s program a potentially huge win for the men’s team from a university image and marketing perspective, it is literally a requirement.

it also has nothing to do with the men's performance this year. that's one of the worst takes in the history of sports takes.

TNT run an amazing program. anyone bitching about it is a moron.

ffs have some faith and loyalty in a staff that has you in the title picture every effin year.

It is a waste of money and moving towards sunk cost which womens sports are. It’s a simple and smart take and easy to understand for those low IQs like Willie. Sorry but mens wrestling benefits nothing by having a womens program along side it. Image and marketing lol, so they are doing it for the virtue signal, what a laughing stock.

title IX almost ruined wrestling, instead of adding sports they cut mens sports and many wrestling programs.

Thank god men's college coaches don't believe like you.

You do reaize a lot of the complaining is by names you may not recogonize on a daily basis. Or maybe weekly or monthly basis either.

But just like the swallows returning to Capistrano or a bear coming out of hibernation.........once a year we have a lot of very knowledgeable people show up with well.............their own take on things. 🔥 🔥🔥

And you are here enough........you should know it is Moran.

touche, Kwood.

Chips, how in the everloving eff, would have any money that has gone to the women, helped this weekend, ya dumdik?
Yeah, I don't think that has any effect on the success of the men's team. I was commenting on my personal likes, not saying it matters either way.

I'm only here during wrestling season for about 4-5 months, but I think most regulars here have taken to realizing that whatever Chips posts.........well........just go with the opposite take and you'll be OK.

I’ve watch UFC events for a long time. At first I wasn’t interested in watching women’s fights. However, after having the opportunity to compete and progress technically, I’ve started to enjoy and appreciate those female fights more. But it didn’t happen overnight for me. It took years.

I expect the state of female UFC will continue to evolve and progress over the next number of years. I also expect the same process to go on with women’s college wrestling.

And whether you like it or not has nothing to do with the disappointment from this year's men's tourney. We'll miss you at the women's meets. However, I did enjoy the Chippy vs Willie thing going on. Great stuff.
