Not meant to be…

Much has been said regarding some sort of PSU "secret sauce" in the wrestling workout room, but the eye test between the Iowa Wrestler vs. Michigan and PSU could explain part of the difference we see on the Team Score board, yes? To be totally honest, the 6 PSU finalist all appeared more muscular, more developed neck, shoulders upper chest...to the point of looking larger than most of their opponents. I realize, they are all comply to the weight limit of their respective weight class, but is this just me? Do they do more specialized weight training? Could this eplain some of the difference?
It’s just you.
Watch the finals again. First three Penn State finalists were far less muscular than there opponents. 184 were even. 197 the only one who was more muscular.
Nice try.

College sports were not created for the fans. They were created to be an extension of and a complimentary addition to an education for the students. Which is why Title IX came about: to make sure the opportunities were balanced between male and female students.

Which is also why claiming they “wasted” money on the women’s team is a terrible take. Not only is the prospect of a world class women’s program a potentially huge win for the men’s team from a university image and marketing perspective, it is literally a requirement.

. College sports were started because students wanted to play certain sports, not to entertain people watching.. Coaches came later. and fans and spectators>Not the reason for them. Since women are students and if they want to compete in a sport what does it matter if some people don't like women to have sports. Yes, it's a long time since those first college sports teams, but just maybe some of that reasoning should be captured again. Hard to do when money has become such a need
but at least remember why they got started. Some you should read the article about the late Christine Grant in the latest Hawkeye magazine..

Welcome to the board. (57 posts?)

My "eye test" was a comparison between the Iowa wrestler in each weight class vs the 2022 finalist...primarly if Michigan or PSU finalist. I watched every match telecast and I trust my eyes, seeing a significant difference in muscular development (arms shoulders and chest) in the finalist's favor compared to the Iowa wrestler. It just seems that this could be an area Iowa needs to improve in. Could help prevent injuries throughout a season as well. Just say'n.

Thanks for the welcome. I don’t waste a lot of time posting.
I disagree with your observations at 133, 141, 174. Iowa guys all more muscular and physical upper body. 184 are the same, 197 PSU slightly more.
Not finalists, but heavyweight Cassiopi is definitely more muscular, upper body. LOL
I was there in person and trust my eyes as well.
