You were able to immediately identify "That behavior is very mtg like", ok, I can go along with that. It's pride month, he is displaying a hetero flag. An extreme example, nowhere near this, but along the lines of displaying a Nazi flag during Jewish history month.
I think we can agree most of these things are done for attention or to invoke emotion.
