My point about MTG is she is the in-your-face white trash type who bitches about Pride Month and LGBTQ issues, and uses props to try to make her point. I view his flag avatar the same way. It’s like walking around saying “What, don’t white lives matter?” Just dumb.
In terms of who does the pride flag represent?
My take is it is (largely?) a unifying symbol for the LGBTQ community. I’m sure many disagree with me on this. But to me it’s a sign of positive acceptance and evolution of societal attitudes about LGBTQ people.
On the downside, there is no question it has become over-commercialized and co-opted by corporations for both virtue-signaling and for profit. Similar to the pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness. But on balance, that’s pretty harmless, IMO. There are worse things.
