NW / IA PBP

Schriever is good but he is not right there compared to desanto. Desanto scores a ton of bonus and is expected to be a top 3 guy at nationals while Schriever would be a pleasant surprise to place this year. Like the kid and he has a bright future but this is a big loss for the team
I’m not comparing Schriever and Desanto. I’m simply stating putting Cullan out there is not a death rattle.

Bennett starts down to begin 2nd period and escapes.

Talshahar really picked up his handwork and gets another TD leading 6-5.

Tom Brands hollers to be crisp with shots.

Talshahar gets an armbar but rolls OOB.

:27 left in match.

Bennett works to his feet, gets hands free, and escapes.

:20 left.

Tied up at 6 after two periods.

Hmm. I wanna see weight sheets like never before now. It makes no sense to me either. Maybe Cullan doesn’t want to be a 3rd year freshman. Hell idk.
Makes you wonder if some of these guys don't want 6 years unless they get hurt. Gives them all a year with injury in their pocket. I can see not wanting to redshirt for 2 years with the free COVID year. I really have no idea what is going on!

I’m not gonna throw in the towell with Cullan Schriever of all people in January. Sorry.
Love Cullen and certainly not throwing in the towel on him if he is the man for the rest of the year.
But c’mon. If DeSanto is done for the year, that is a major bummer.

Even with desanto it was gonna be a battle so going from him to Schriever is a big drop off in team points. Hope I’m wrong but I just can’t see it unless penn state also loses a big point scorer

Talshahar escapes immediately on the whistle. Very quick.

Leads 6-7.

Bennett shoots, but NW reshoots and gets the TD.

Leads 6-9

Bennett tried a neckwrench to get out of it but couldn't.

Bennett somersaults through but nothing.

:49 left in match.

Talshahar has ankle, but OOB.

Bennett has to get up and out and on his offense quick before RT kicks in.

Bennett to his feet, somersault attempt, but OOB.

RT is official now.

:24 left.

TO on the mat.

Terry Brands barks about hand control to Bennett, who's done some good thing.

Bennett somersaults again, almost gets something but loses 6-10.

NW leads Iowa 3-6 in the team race.

I’m not either but he’s not at ADS’s level right now. Cullan has a very high ceiling and I expect great things but asking him to score 20 pts in March is a very tall order.

Isn't it possible that DeSanto is just under the weather?

For him to qualify, then score four points, is a tall order.

I’ll buy this over the other alternatives circling in my head at the moment.

If that’s the case than I really don’t understand the brands. You don’t pull a future starters shirt to fill in for a couple pointless duals. It also won’t look good for future recruits, imagine being a parent of a high level kid and thinking if you send them there they might lose a year to fill in for a nw dual lol

149 lbs.

#13 Max Murin vs. #5 Yahya Thomas 7-2.

They wrestled each other at 141 and Murin won 4-3 two years ago.

More collar ties both sides.

Yahya leads 1-3 and NW team leads 3-6.

PD hands to face whistle on Murin.

Crowd barking at Max again.

Murin trying to find an angle on a thick, athletic, hard to score on Yahya.

:30 left in 2nd period.

Yahya working a two on one, swipes at our leg. Max doing a good job of keeping hands on him but needs to keep moving his feet.

End of two. Still 1-3 Yahya leads Max Murin.\

I agree, trying to rationalize this while convincing myself it is not worse case scenario. I don't understand why Austin would travel with the team if he was done either though. Very odd and I would bet we won't know anything after the post-dual presser either.

No, we'll get some buffoonery like, "I like my team" or "I like wrestling"
