***NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS SESSION II***

they were supposed to easily be second this year too. you can’t give them credit for something they didn’t do.
Such a stupid argument. The comparison isn’t even close. Even injured Cass AA’d one of his years to alone make sure they would have taken 2nd.

Ignoring what the gambling farce did and then using it to indict Brands is maybe the most disingenuous argument possible.

But, hey, embrace the hate and make sure to use injuries from 1 year transfers to indict them this year.

Hopefully, you get your wish, they replace them soon and they don’t get any better. By then, any I told you so won’t even matter…

Telford has done very well with BK!! I rag on him but the proof is showing with Ben’s BiG and now this Tourney. Still yearly in the tourney but it is clicking at the right time.
Every heavyweight Telford’s coached has been excellent. Even Bradley Hill got a lot better last year (beat this year’s 4 seed in the first round).

Morningstar is the guy who hasn’t been able to get elite talent over the top.

Congrats to Drake, Mikey, PK, Buc and Ben on advancing to the quarters!

Drake, Mikey and Steven B have been the most consistent wrestlers this year while PK leaves the tank empty on the mat and Ben becoming the most improved as the season has gone on.

Unfortunately, Parco, Teemer and Gabe haven’t looked good for the last few months.
Looking at the guys in the quarters at 184, sadly, I don't think there's a chance in hell Gabe AAs.

Typical worthless espn had kerkvliet down 3-0. Didn’t switch the score until the end.
I’m sitting there wondering why he was riding Hoffman in the 3rd period down 3 points then realized the stupid network I was watching knows nothing about the sport they’re attempting to broadcast.

Rabble rabble rabble…

Not sure how “rough” it really was.

Went 5-2 in the round. Only higher seed loss was Parco.
Parco loss sucks, but an injury during the national tournament is tough to overcome. Just crappy.
Gabe’s loss was UGLY, but does it matter if it was 4-3 or 12-1? He has work to do tomorrow now.
Ayala, Caliendo, Buchanan, and BK all looked really good. Ayala and Buchanen still a chance for a title, and Caliendo a puncher’s chance.
I do my best to absorb all the negativity and hate so that you can express the same opinion without feeling the wrath…

Ben just dismantled Feldman. Love to see him widen the gap and get 2 tds. He's as good at sitting the corner as anyone I've ever seen at that size. It's going to be an incredible weapon.
At this rate of improvement, the matchup vs Bastida should be pretty good next season as those two fight for the top of the ladder.

They aren’t responsible for Parco and Teemer’s injuries.

However, building your team out of 6th and 7th year transfers because you failed to recruit and develop your own guys is inherently risky, which is exactly what I told you at the beginning of the year.

There is a structural issue in Brands’ vision for the program which is why, more often than not, things go wrong in March.

I said the 5 in the quarters is nice. But that has us in a 3-way tie for 4th after day 1 with Cruz and Teemer eliminated. Parco probably with a wrecked ACL and Gabe with possibly his worst match of his Iowa career.

If we go 3-2 or better tomorrow morning I'll upgrade my comment from nice round to pretty nice round.

Ben is improving, the guy is a freaking stud.
World gold and silver. He just gets manhandled by the Senior Olympic Gold medalist and multi time NCAA champs who are 5 years older than him. Like everyone does.
He's a kid, give him another year or two and he will be toying with top level freshman as well.
I can see Ben being a three timer if he keeps improving, which he will. He's grown leaps since the start of the year.

Here is what I have to say. I believe VERY STRONGLY now that TnT being at IOWA has the disadvantage if you will of the PRESSURE to win all the time!!! Please let me explain. At IOWA, you are not only EXPECTED to WIN, you are also expected to win ALL the time AND against the best competition.

You have SOLD out CARVER crowds and the TUFFEST dual schedule. Fans PAY to see TOP guys, TnT do not have the luxury of sitting guys TWOOOOO often!!! We have seen many MANY times, our wrestlers taking the mat in a "B1G" dual meet when not 100%. They do this for the TEAM!!!

TEEMER this year, I think it was STOLL several years back, LEE, and on and on........ CYHAWK dual, OK ST dual are added "B1G" deals. I have seen this effect teams, I would say an obvious example is the NY YANKEES. they are ALWAYS expected to win, they have to always play PRIMETIME, there is always media and fans and constant demand of the players time.

It all adds up and I believe ALL these factors are taking tolls on many of the HAWKS. You are already in the TUFFEST sport and you have all the added "extra" BS on top!!!

NOT sure what if anything you can do about it besides becoming so dominate, that most matches are a joke and if someone is not 100%, you can roll out a backup without worrying!!!

I don’t know. If it is a guy or 2 like it has been so far, it’s more than fine. Franek worked out fine and, so far, Buchanan looks worth its price in gold.

I would love nothing more than for Iowa to have top 10 recruits across all 10 weights, but that isn’t realistic. Even PSU hasn’t done that until the last couple years or so.

For the foreseeable future NIL and transfers is going to be a key part in supplementing the lineup. They just need to find more Caliendos with multiple years left. Hopefully, the Covid byproducts will all be gone soon and no more 6-7 year guys will even be left to choose from…

Can’t wait to have this conversation about March underperformance with you again next year. And the next year. And the next.

One day, you’ll have to admit that it’s not just bad luck.

I see Schultz wasn't gifted a top seed this year for wrestling no one. Thay always pissed me off when Cass would get 3rd at big tens and Schultz would win the pac12 and be seeded higher despite Cass only losses to the top 2 guys. Dude is a fraud.

Again, so far, exactly what underperformance has there been so far that doesn’t directly involve substantial injury? I am all ears. I mean you just said above that you aren’t using the injuries against them, but then basically go to it by the “bad luck” comment.

Oh well, I am going to watch Reacher and then go to bed. You guys can stay mad at the world and Brands for making it that way. I will smile as Reacher beats everyone up and bangs the hot chick!

TRY and stick with me and I will expand. It is EXTREMELY hard to PEAK at B1Gs and NCAAs when you have the added pressure to WIN the CYHAWK, beat OK st, the GRIND of the B1G 10 schedule. MAYBE you would like to give a kid a break when he isn't 100% but ADDED PREASURE keeps you from doing this.

MAYBE you would like to cycle the practices where you can ease up some, but you have ANOTHER BIG match!!! I would say LIGHTEN up the load and maybe condense it some if possible but how!?!?!? You are EXPECTED to have a GREAT product on the mat ALL the time. Even if you are wrestling XYZ U who is not very good, you still roll out TOP guys because it is a HOME match and people wanna see the best.

BELEIVE me the GRIND takes its toll and the ONLY path I see forward is to become a team as good, NO- BETTER then F*** st!!! This way you can roll out backups whenever needed and still win!!!

Have seen even PRO athletes who could not make it in NY due to the added pressure!!!!

Well, the only thing you would love more is for MSU to have top 10 recruits across all 10 weights...correct?

Will we know more about Parco's injury before its time to warm up for the next match??

guessing we won't
