Smith has a lot of growing up to do. And she’s not playing at the end of close games now. When you’re being replaced by either Hull or Samuelson your future is in doubt. CC, Boston and Mitchell are here for awhile. Smith might need a change of scenery. In the NBA they would say she has a perfect power forward body. But she’s just awkward and doesn’t seem to give it her all, which is now why in particular Hull is getting crunch time minutes. Her defense is key and she moves without the ball really well also.

Hull is the closest thing we have to a defensive stopper (and tries the hardest in rebounding) which is why she plays in clutch minutes at the end of the game. As long as she’s not turning it over she’s valuable.

Smith has all this potential and I feel like she’s always right in the cusp of finding it, but then she’ll disappear for awhile or hurt us defensively.

They need Temi back, long, fluid athlete that can run, run, run….although Smith is probably more polished offensively, she doesn’t have a big motor 🤷‍♂️

I’m a bit anxious going into tomorrow’s game. On paper it should be a win, but we’ve dropped the ball before against weaker teams. To me, this game is very important. To head to the break coming off a loss to the Wings would be a very tough pill to swallow, probably a bit demoralizing to the team. They need to show up tomorrow and play like it’s the championship game so they can ride into the break with momentum.

I am not anxious but you are correct this team is capable of losing to anyone, and winning games like this one are crucial to playoff seeding, and of course Caitlin's ROY chances. It would amazing if they won the game and then lit team USA on fire Saturday...

Dan Patrick spitting truth:

Wait.... Dawn Staley said that AR should be rookie of the year, because Caitlin is doing what was expected of her and no one expected AR to play like she is?!?

Just incredible mental gymnastics to make an argument.

By that logic, they better consider Kate Martin. She was surprised to be drafted.

We have all said it, multiple times, but this scenario is THE craziest, most irrational, sports story of all time. Fraught with deceit, race, political pandering and just out & out delusion.

I'm seeing a few posts suggesting the Fever should blow up their roster and get rid of Mitchell. I think that is crazy. Mitchell is a dynamite player. She's lightning fast and a good shooter, a pure scorer. The Fever would be 5-20 if she wasn't on the team.
While I agree she is important to the team, I don't think anyone is advocating cutting her. Rather, I think the idea is to trade her for someone who better complements Caitlin. Whether that person exists or whether the trade would actually upgrade team are another story.

She’s absolutely helpful to the team right now. She’s the only other perimeter scorer and playmaker we have that can create her own shot. In the long run however, championship teams don’t happen with selfish, hero-ball players who aren’t situationally aware. She’s a World B. Free (how’s that for a reference!). She’ll always be a great scorer on a weak team.

That said…prove me wrong Mitchell! I’ll happily eat crow!

The women's sports apparel market has now reached $4 billion in the US, with Front Office Sports citing Caitlin Clark as a major catalyst for its growth.

The story:

I can hear the twitter race engine revving as we speak. Pretty soon if your wearing a Clark Jersey you’ll be assumed racist.😂

Although I’ve found out recently and mentioned as much on here, Twitter and the media truly is not representative of reality, and as we’ve all noticed, CC has cross generational, gender, race, everything kind of fans

I think your proposition is premised on the notion that her game will remain static. Up to this year, she has had to be a primary scorer, because they had such limited options. So, she has had 4 to 5 years of training/experience that tells her this is her value to the team, probably more if you include her days at Ohio State.
If you accept that premise, then you are probably correct.

However, the more that she plays with Caitlin, I believe her game will evolve, at least capable of evolving. I do not have any specific evidence of that, except to point out that in Caitlin’s rookie season, Indiana will likely make the playoffs, something they have not done since even before Mitchell was on the team. That should be something to build on. The value of the extra pass, not needing to score whenever she touches the ball, will become more apparent. And they’ll win more games. And they’ll be more successful. And her celebrity will be enhanced. And she’ll make more money.

I think it comes down to whether you think she is capable of changing her game. She is always going to be a scorer, I don’t think her changes need to be dramatic, but more in context of the flow of the game. She is a really good player, not easily replaced. She is clearly talented enough to make the refinements to her game. Give it some time. She has only had 25 games of playing with Caitlin. We’ll see.

When you have LeBron James in your corner, the racist angle seems false/contrived, but only to serve an end of the person promoting that angle.
