You should focus more on Milwaukee coming in hot than focusing on what the Cubs do against Pittsburgh.
We'll see what he shows in spring training. I really liked the drop in his strikeout rate this year - it was down more than 10 percentage points from last year and he struck out at a lower rate in Chicago than he did at Iowa this year.
I'd like to see if he can get back to driving the ball more next year without increasing the K rate substantially. His BABIP was way down over last year and his walk rate was down. Some of that could be sample size, but part of me also wonders how much of the drops are him focusing so much on contact that he's being more aggressive on so-so pitches. BABIP being down could also be due to getting more bat on ball with 2 strikes....taking ABs that would have been a K last year and turning it into something less than hard contact.

Yu Darvish and Kyle Hendricks will not make their scheduled starts this weekend. While I understand it looking at the bigger picture, I am disappointed that they are choosing not to compete with an opportunity to play spoiler.

Cincy didn't start their best player, Suarez, left fielder or catcher today. Because they're out of the race. Just like Pittsburgh. Just like Miami. We'll see who last place Colorado starts this weekend against the Brewers.

I don't believe that. I just think they guys "collecting a paycheck" are actually just old and can't compete for a full season anymore. Mainly in the pitching staff.

I don't know about Hendricks, but I'd definitely shut Darvish down. He threw a hell of a game in his last start and has shown a ton this off-season. No reason to chance injury when it looks like he might be primed for a really good 2020 season.
Maddon quit caring a very long time ago. It'll be interesting if it ever comes out about his relationship with Theo.
Professionally, you'd expect they say complimentary things about each other, but I'd bet there was lots of tension. It's obvious Maddon's on the field moves were meant to jab at Epsteins lack of roster help.
Meanwhile.....the White Sox - a team that's been out of contention for several weeks, I believe - is handing Cleveland it's own ass 2 nights in a row and possibly knocking them out of a WC spot.
