He is what he is....and what he is is an above average hitter with pop. He's not going to be Babe Ruth, but he's cheap, cost-controlled and can hit. His career wRC+ is 111. A few weeks ago, he was at 89 for this season, so he's "regressing to the mean". I don't see any reason to think he'll end the season as anything other than an above average hitter.
He likely won't be a franchise cornerstone and he's probably not a guy you can trade for a huge return....but he's a pretty damn useful bat to have in the lineup.
Agreed. I want him on the team and in the lineup. I am dubious that he could have landed a huge haul from an AL team at his peak hype level post-2016, and right now, he provides above average offense at a relatively cheap contract.
