*****Official Cubs 2023 thread*****

He just can’t be in the Opening Day rotation. He needs to back to the pen, piggy back and fill in for injuries. Gotta limit his innings.
I would love for him to be in that roll for the remainder of this year but definitely next year. That means someone from the minors has stepped up or the traded for a guy or they signed a guy.

He was really playing and hitting well before he got hurt this time. Now MM goes back to AAA just as he is starting to hit pretty well. Some lousy timing. I hope both of them continue to play well in their roles; that can only help the organization.
Wow - Miles was playing really well as the left side of the platoon. Not a fan of this move.

As long as the Cubs insist on continuing to carry both Wisdom and Mancini, this was really the only play. Now the Cubs are in a bind with Miles - it’s the 4th time he‘s been optioned, so if he comes back up again, he’ll have to stay on the ML roster or else the Cubs will have to put him through waivers and I’d be really surprised if he cleared.

2 small things. Tonight's line up is indicative of a roster defect, no left-handed batter to put in as DH against Wainright, who is a shadow of himself.
Second point, and it's super random, Rucker finished off the game Thursday and was demoted the next day. As he walked off the mound Thursday night someone gave him the ball that made the final out and he tucked it into his back pocket. Did he know he was going down, or as a middle of the road guy does he simply savor every experience?
