Hey guys feels good to be back. I was the previous official thread starter so I'll assume those responsibilities again starting with a big game tomorrow. I thought it would be best to get this thread up and going and rally around the troops. I was in a bad place yesterday after the game but after sleeping it off I believe in our Hawks and what they are still capable of this year and what they can accomplish. The last thing they need is any negativity. I believe in Fran and his coaching strategies and abilities. This is a great team and they need our support during this rough stretch.

Keys to the Game:
Positive energy in Carver
Uboat has to pick it up need at least 25-10
Awow has been playing his heart out, keep it up
Easy buckets in transition
Money mike had a great game at tOSU, keep it up
More Christian Williams plz and ty
Most of all have fun out there

I luv my Hawks and hate to see them and the fanbase like this. Let's keep it positive guys.

Welcome aboard Bryce, it is a reel good time to get in on the basketball discussion around here. Hope you have better luck than Premium Scent in starting these official game threads. The team needs us now, way to stay positive in these trying times.

Outsider here, just trying to get a feel for what's changed with Iowa through the course of the B1G season. Admittedly I haven't caught all of Iowa's games (missed both Sparty games) but did watch both Purdue games as well as the first IU game (IU fan here) and yesterday's game. Obviously in the IU game your bench was lacking and a review of your stats show you generally have some solid bench support. A few weeks back (at your peak) I looked back to your individual stats from last year and compared them to this year and was blown away by the improvements I saw. Jok's shooting percentages, Uthoff's all around game, Gesell's 3 point shooting, Woodbury FG and FT%, etc. Everyone seemed to miss the boat on Iowa as the consensus was you were experienced but you lost AW and therefore middle of the pack was a reasonable assumption. Is this recent slide just a normalization back to what one would expect a year over year improvement would look like? Is their gas left in the tank?

Are their specific things you can point to that need to be fixed to turn back around your season? Or is it a general team slump? Good luck the rest of the way especially when the big dance starts.

Balls. We played with big balls early on when we were the under dog. Now that we were on top our players got nervous and hesitant on their shooting and defense. Its not one players fault, this is the whole team has gone downhill since the Maryland game. I don't know what it was, but boy its gotten ugly.

Sadly I just do not see a turn around in this group. I hope I am 100% wrong on that, but its something mental that is driving this slump. The players are capable of playing better, but for what ever reason they are not.

IU will smoke Iowa tomorrow in Carver. I wish I was wrong, but IU is playing w/ton of confidence and Iowa is not.

I can see that. No killer attitude. Watching the second half of your game yesterday it seemed like there was no sense of urgency.

Here are the keys I'm seeing for tomorrow's game:
  1. How will Iowa react with just a day off compared to Indiana who last played Thursday night. Both teams play best with a faster tempo, do you have the legs to do so tomorrow?
  2. How will IU react to clinching a share of the B1G title? This team is notorious for its letdowns. Preseason top 15, started 3-0, and then Maui.
  3. What will the crowd be like on senior night at Carver? IU got embarrassed in the 2nd half @ Michigan St. Will good Troy come to play on the road?
  4. Will RoJo play for IU? IU's backcourt depth is super thin with both him and Blackmon out.
  5. Can Uthoff match his ouput from the first IU game?
I honestly can see IU winning a close one or by close to 10 points. I can also see Iowa in a close one or by 15 points. Nothing would surprise me in this one.

Bruce Taylor would premium scent reincarnated. Basically made this exact post on the football board several months ago as premium scent, right before our football teams demise.

Quit focusing on the negative. We are in this together and need to focus our energy on the Hawks turning this thing around.
 
With all that had gone on the last few weeks we still have a long shot to share the B1G Title. Win vs Indiana and @ Michigan with an Indiana loss to Maryland in the final game. Not going to happen, but its still a possibility.

I had a lot of scotch last night and I know that's no excuse. We need to change the attitude of where the program is right now and we as fans can help. The kids need our support more than ever right now.
 
As many people have said on this board, the Hawks are tentative and looking scared to shoot now. Not sure when they have almost must win situation and IU has virtually no pressure since they have share of title in their pocket how this will help the Hawks. Realistic scenario here
 
I thought about Premium Scent today & almost started a thread.... "Will we hear from Premium Scent today or not." Headache gone?

I feel better just really upset at how I went off the deep end yesterday. Feel really stupid but I refuse to give up on my Hawks.

I think the Hawks win. The pressure is off them and on Indy to not blow a chance at an outright B1G title.

The key for Iowa to win is a solid first-half. All 8 losses have been by a single digit (ranging from 1 point to 8 points). In only one game (the IA State debacle), did Iowa hold the lead @ half.
 
Sounds like the Hawks Nest is having a best sign contest, winner takes home a Benjamin. If nothing else will be fun to read them during free throws.
