As much as I despise ISU, I would rather have their team and coach. ISU has 3 better guards than Iowa has had in Fran's tenure. It's a good thing Fran didn't go after Brockington because we couldn't use a dynamic slashing / scoring guard. Joe T. and Ulis should be at mid-major programs. It looks like ISU has 8 guys on defense and Iowa has 3.

Yes it will. Iowa cannot handle guys in their face on defense. There are no pressure release moves and no one attacks the basket. Everything is parallel to the baseline and then they take a terrible shot. As long as ISU continues to play defense like this, Iowa has no chance to win this game.

Ferentz has won things of consequence. Fran has not. Ferentz has also shown a willingness to adapt some over the years. Fran has not.When he brings a ferentz offense things go back quickly

This team played with a chip on their shoulder against Purdue. Like without Keegan it was them against the world and everybody counted them out. We need to find that again this half
Looking at how Red and angry Fran gets, he looks for Yes men as his assistants and I don't think he wants any serious inputs from his assistants. Dillard sits like he's posing for a painting. Speraw whispers stuff to fran, but it probably is yes man stuff to keep the job.
None of the assistants is going to tell him PMAC is soft and doesn't defend or rebound or CMAC can't shoot. That said, we aren't losing because Fran is overplaying his kids...this team doesn't shoot the ball well and doesn't rebound. The defense looks passive compared to ISU effort.

Rebounds are 29 to 10. That is truly pathetic! You’re going to have off shooting night but should never have off effort nights. That is just flat footed effort.
Exactly right. Fran is an outstanding offensive coach, but his teams are terrible at defense. Fran also can’t recruit. All of that is getting exposed tonight.
Their offense will not get them to the sweet 16. I am not sold on them even making the tournament yet.
