I was hoping to be able to take the wife and kids to Egypt some time in the next few years to do an Ancient Egypt tour. I’ve got a feeling that won’t be happening any time soon now. Yea this isn’t in Egypt, but things are likely to get worse in the whole region for a while, after things had finally settled down a bit after the Arab Spring.

You are assuming the government was going to spend 6 billion on food and medicine before any of this started. They weren't. If the authorization to sell the oil was never given there would be no money to argue over. Once the oil was sold it was legally Iranian money, not ours. Lastly if anyone thinks Iran used the "fungible money" since the announcement of the release to purchase, take possession of and deliver to Hamas in the Gaza Strip they are crazy. The planning, aquisition and placement of the military equipment had to have taken months to implement. The Iranian assistance could not have gotten there in that amount of time. So unless you think Iran and Hamas knew months ago that the money was coming, the "fungible" part of the debate doesn't work.

I remember I think Clinton brokered a deal for peace. Yasser Afafat said if he signed anything without the goal of death to all Israel Jews, he would be assasinated.

Hamas has been emboldened to strike because Republicans have cut funding to Ukraine and declared they are no longer interested in getting involved overseas or helping countries that are being attacked.

If Republicans would have passed more Ukraine aid this wouldn't have happened.
