**** Official Israel War thread****

We shouldn’t be delaying Israel while we negotiate with terrorists
Succinct.

Also, while its certainly admirable for the us to try to free hostages who are us citizens, I may be wrong about this, but I'm not sure that i've seen anything to suggest that any of the hostages are "solely" us citizens (ie, not dual US-Israeli citizens). if that's the case, I'd argue our case for delays is even weaker.

If Hamas wanted positive PR and to put international pressure on Israel, they should release all hostages they are holding immediately. I am sure they see them as shields they can hide behind and deter Israel with but I think they are mistaken. Israel has already written the hostages off as "dead" and are going in after Hamas no matter what.

The best use of the hostages right now is to release them as an act of good faith. Every second longer they hold hostages just continues to paint them as evil and that Israel is justified in flattening Gaza.

That's the thing. Hamas doesn't care about Gaza or the Palestinians. You speak as if they are rational. They are religious zealots just like the Israelis.

We might also want them to delay to get more forces in the area...in case Iran/Hezbollah get frisky when Israel is committed in Gaza.

We should stay as far away from these wars as possible.
I agree 100%. This is a double edge sword though. No presence there would embolden the Muslim states to go after Israel. Hopefully our presence there acts as a deterrent and prevents this thing from escalating. At the same time, our presence there invites an escalation of activities due to our very presence.

No one wants war but what do you expect Israel to do? Just say no harm no foul after Hamas raped, killed, burned, beheaded men women and children. It was the equivalent of doing that to 50k Americans on 9/11. I feel for the Palestine people but unfortunately Hamas was grown within. I just don’t see how you avoid this conflict. Because of that Iran and proxies get involved ultimately leading to the US and alllied nations involvement.

It sucks but it’s the shit humanity has always lived with.

Not at all surprised by this. My opinion (and I fully admit I may be wrong) is the Israel- U.S. relationship is like the character Master Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and we’re the muscle that does whatever we’re told.
They’re our western world way into a presence in the Middle East oil fields.

Imagine a world without religion and finite resources.

Hamas was not grown within. All of their leaders are sitting far away using Palestinians as pawns.

Israel is upset and rightfully so, but they are seeing red. Israel are are always looking for any reason to bomb Palestinians who are forced to live in an open air prison with little to no access to resources. It's a major human rights issue and who can blame Palestinians for defending themselves when their land is occupied. Israel sucks.

The capabilities and resources of the entire US compared to Gaza? You’re comparing apples to oranges.

Again, take a US city in a vacuum. Blockade and bomb Manhattan and see how quickly things turn to shit. What’s the old saying, “Society is about nine meals away from anarchy”?
1 meal and 1 case of water in Trad's case.

They can go whenever they are ready. We aren't holding them back. It's also worthwhile for the West to ask Israel, "What happens after you bust up Hamas"? They can go in 5 minutes from now and root out Hamas. Is their plan to reoccupy Gaza? It would be nice to get a head's up on that.

Hamas isn't even located there. This is going to be like Iraq and the Vietnam War. You can't fight an ideology.

It’s not their land
