This is the problem with trying to be unpredictable and failing to execute on 1st down. You end up having to pass 3 plays and punt, and now Iowa will probably come out and run it, which Nebraska expects, so it will again come down to winning the LOS against a team that knows you're going to run on that play.

Iowa abandons run and throws three times when Nebraska's D has been Swiss cheese against the ground game.
Nebraska plants Martinez firmly in the pocket on two straight pass plays insteaad of getting him on the perimeter where he has been almost unstoppable.
