*****Official Regional Games Thread. #2 IOWA vs #3 N. Carolina at #14 Overall Seed Indiana St (Terre Haute) Regional (June 4, 11 am CT, ESPN+) *****

I'd have to look that up. That makes sense though. Imagine the pitching depth if the regular Sunday starter had 4 CG shutouts . . . yikes.
Yep, I know they have a strong staff like us and don't recall who they threw in first game of season vs us.

Wright State 5 Indiana State 2 - headed to B6.

If the Sycamores don't score this inning . . . the sweat is going to be freely flowing.

EDIT: 2 out HR for ISU. 5-3 to T7.

EDIT 2: To T8. Wright State still up 5-3.

Was just checking this out on app! And finally I've found a good college baseball scoreboard with multiple games, thanks!
This one on mobile will also send push alerts after 3rd and 6th innings so if driving or busy you can see alerts on phone/smartwatch, etc.

the ESPN scoreboard, correct?

Here come the Sycamores . . . one out and runners on second and third. Raiders going to the pen. Score still 5-3. Lots of nail biting in Terre Haute.

Does anyone know the game times tomorrow? Assuming the losers play first? Thanks....can't find it.

The radio guys said that tomorrow's first game (yes it will involve the losers) would start at Noon EDT/11:00 a.m. CDT.

Wright State just gagged away its lead. ISU is up 6-5. Walks kill.

Welp . . . let's hope that its the Hawkeyes versus the Sycamores tomorrow evening.

Wright State took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 8th and gave up 3 runs; they fail to score in the 9th and ISU survives, 6-5.

As I wrote above, Wright St will play at 11 am CT (vs loser of Iowa/UNC).

Indiana St will play at 5 pm CT (vs winner of Iowa/UNC).

NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS

Iowa opens up regional play against North Carolina at 6 PM CT on Friday, June 2. The Tar Heels (or Diamond Heels, as they prefer to call themselves) went .500 (14-14) in an ACC conference that put 8* teams into the Field of 64. UNC was 19-7 against non-ACC teams this season and 32-7 against unranked teams.

*Only the SEC, with 10, has more teams in the tournament.

As you'd probably expect, Iowa and North Carolina don't have much history against one another; UNC won the first-ever meeting between the clubs, a 5-3 win in the 1990 NCAA Regionals. Iowa picked up a 5-4 win in the rematch 30 years later at the Cambria Classic non-conference event in Minneapolis, MN.

Nor do Iowa and North Carolina have many common opponents this season. Just one, in fact -- Penn State. Iowa split two games against the Nittany Lions in April, taking a 9-6 win in the series opener but losing 8-3 in the second game of the series. North Carolina beat Penn State 15-5 in early March.

You know that the TV commentator doesn’t follow Iowa closely when he claims that Iowa’s run in the B1G tournament was “on the back of Dorighi.” JFC. Dorighi’s bat didn’t play much of a role at all.

Bottom of 2nd:

Huckstorf struck out swinging
Frazier singled
Moss DOUBLED down RF line, advancing Frazier to 3rd
Wilmes singles to 2nd, Moss to 3rd, Frazier scores
Wilmes to 2nd on a Wild Pitch, Moss still on 3rd
Petersen strikes out swinging
Dorighi intentionally walked to LOAD THE BASES
Tello grounds out to SS

After 2 complete innings, IOWA leads 3-0

Friday's Starting Pitching match up:

Stats are for the entire season.

WHIP = walks + hits divided by innings pitched

In the Major Leagues, the average WHIP is around 1.30 (Marcus is at 1.38). Most middle-of-the-rotation pitchers will throw around this mark. Pitchers with a WHIP above 1.50 (which Knapp is) are generally thought of as poor and could be heading back to the minor leagues (or the bench).
