*****OFFICIAL TRUMP CRIMINAL TRIAL THREAD*****

Not sure why NBC is posting stuff like this after a jury member stepped down for being made public.

"One potential juror said that he has worked in law enforcement for 34 years and, in his spare time, he has season tickets to New York Rangers' games and enjoys going to Yankees games."

4 days to pick 5 jurors? How long does it take? And does the defendant usually have to be in the courtroom for juror selection?

Case like this probably two weeks,.. No, the defendant is normally not required to be present,.. New York, New York.

It was anticipated it would take 2-3 weeks to select the jury. And yes.

No, Trump being required to sit through this is not normal,.. The defendant normally has the option, but is not required to be present for this phase of the trial proceedings.

I already edited the yes part out before your response.

Jury selection process is proving to be increasingly challenging by the hour, CNN analyst says

From CNN's Aditi Sangal

Thursday's dismissal of two jurors who were seated underscores how the process is not perfect and requires "self-reflection and self-disclosure," a CNN legal analyst noted.
"We were one step forward, now it's two jurors back," CNN's Laura Coates told CNN's Boris Sanchez. "It's not a perfect system. It's not quite an honor system. But it is about self-reflection and self-disclosure."
The goal is to find jurors who don't have a personal stake in the matter and who can keep an open mind, but it's proving more and more challenging as the hours — not just the days — go by, Coates added.

They'll get a jury seated. It's been less than 3 days and they're already a third of the way there.

Trump attorney Susan Necheles has now moved on to removing another juror for cause, a woman she says has "vitriolic" social media posts about the former president through 2020.

The potential juror said she wouldn't believe Trump "if his tongue were notarized," Necheles told Judge Juan Merchan.

Unfortunately, what we're seeing here is a two-tier system of justice with Trump given every advantage imaginable. Can you imagine Joe Blow citizen getting away with this stuff like publicly demeaning prosecuters, judges, judges families, and blatant disregard of court ordered gag orders. We would be put in jail for contempt, no questions asked. But not Trump - really pathetic!

He's the most coddled person in America. Any of us would have been held in contempt a long time ago.

So . . . you're saying that requiring a criminal defendant to be present during voir dire and jury selection is unique to state courts in New York City? Curious as to the basis for that statement.
Is it your contention that a criminal defendant is not required to be present during jury selection in a majority of jurisdictions?
Can't wait for @Rifler response.
