Ohio State fan

It seems people can rationalize whatever they want to believe - especially if they have a predetermined disposition toward a player.
Well ya. Iowa fans blindly defend her and ISU fans blindly attack her; the only rational opinions come from those not emotionally involved in the situation generally outside of the Midwest.

No…if she played for Ohio State and it happened in Iowa City, I would still callout the over-exuberant Iowa fan for looking at her phone, rather than where she was running to. Thankfully, the player (in this case Clark) didn’t get hurt, as she was still on the court where she belonged. However, a fan doesn’t belong on a court, so I would have no sympathy (regardless of what team they root for) if they get hurt running out on the court.
Not to mention the derogatory and nasty comments hurled at her by OhioSt fans. They f'd up. This team will be out for blood. Bluder was fuming after the game.

I now understand why Michigan fans get so annoyed with Ohio State fans. This has not been a good week for them.

FWIW, ESPN has changed their wording about Caitlin's condition after the incident from "not injured" earlier to "not seriously injured" now. If you watch the post game press conference, it's obvious that she was grimacing with some sort of head pain/vision issues.
I didn't see the post game press conference....maybe I should watch it. However, if she was grimacing with some sort of head pain/vision issues I don't think it had anything to do with the collision with the husky fan. There was absolutely no contact to her head in the collision. I'm not minimizing the extent of the collision...I'm just stating that the video is clear that her head wasn't contacted. Wondering why she was grimacing with some sort of head pain...did something happen during the actual game that I missed?

I actually thought she was trying to hold back tears, more so from the loss than anything else was my initial thought. I could be wrong on that though. Hopefully she didn’t get a concussion or anything serious following that accident.

I think the whole thing is going to tarnish her brand (not with Hawk fans). She should have seen the fan, didn't hit her head, reacted very quickly with a shove, and even the fall looked phony.

How come nobody ever talks about the 9999 other times a court or field gets stormed? Hmm...
T rying to remember a football game at Wisconsin --not with Iowa--where students rushed to the field and some got hurt. anyone recall that and why the injuries>

Iowa has rushed the field against Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State at Kinnick. No one seemed to care.

The fan is lucky she isn't being charged criminally and perhaps that should be the outcome. Storming the court is against the rules and people make light of it because it is celebratory and usually people are not hit by fans or injured. In this case the student was trespassing and made forcible contact with a player. The fan did not belong there.
Not knowing intent at all a player could reasonably defend themselves against a fan that makes contact or is running toward them and call it self defense. The fan is the one trespassing and the fan is therefore responsible for anything that goes wrong.

For all the idiots out there attacking Caitlin, let's charge the fan criminally and see where the fault lies. That fan is lucky Caitlin is such a class act.

While that is true - most accidents still have a person at fault. Whether CC embelsihed this or not, she belonged on the court and the fan did not.
OK, CC is at fault. It looks more like she ran into the fan as opposed to the fan running into her. She was not watching where she was going.

Are you just trying to argue here - in this case CC IS NOT the one at fault because she is allowed and expected to be on the court, the fan is not. Pretty simple. Re-read my original comment.

The fan being the floor doesn't give CC the right to plow into her. I still prefer saying that both were at fault and leave it at that.

70 injured in this incident.

FWIW, I like field/court storming—it’s a fun way for fans to celebrate. But it’s only fun if no one gets hurt, obviously not guaranteed with hundreds or thousands of participants.

CC was kinda looking down and took off running at a pretty good clip, she collided with a fan that wasn't looking either, an accident people, shit happens. Glad cc wasn't injured, move on people it isn't the end of the world and no one should be executed for it

I am glad the fan’s identity is not known to the fans/media for a couple of reasons. One being even though she shouldn’t have been on the floor and didn’t bother to see if Clark was ok, I wouldn’t want someone’s life to be ruined via social media or for her to receive any threats. The other reason is I wouldn’t want a bunch of Caitlin Clark haters to start a go fund me so she can get enough $ to pay off school, buy a house etc for basically being a dumb***.
