Sounds like Sparty is about to hire Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith. Could be a good move for both, but I do wonder if Smith can recreate his success at a school that isn’t his alma mater. We shall see, but looks like a solid hire.

He's Mich Sts top target, doesn't mean it will happen though.Source?
He’s saying good for smith and msu….not OSUHow is that a good move for both? It's a good hire for Michigan State but who would want to go coach Oregon State with their conference imploding?
It would potentially be a good move for Smith and Sparty, obviously Ore St is the loser in this scenario. How is that a good move for both? It's a good hire for Michigan State but who would want to go coach Oregon State with their conference imploding?
Why anyone would want to coach there is mind bottling! Especially a fairly successful coach.
More resources and more money. Why anyone would want to coach there is mind bottling! Especially a fairly successful coach.
And all the baggage that comes with it. Thanks captain obvious.More resources and more money.

Coaches have huge egos and they believe they can fix anything. Problems or not, it is still the Big 10 and Oregon St has basically no conference. And all the baggage that comes with it. Thanks captain obvious.
This may be one of the best WOBs of all time. Why anyone would want to coach there is mind bottling! Especially a fairly successful coach.
I agree. You do realize it was intentional, right? This may be one of the best WOBs of all time.
True, but there will be better jobs opening up soon. He should have waited.Coaches have huge egos and they believe they can fix anything. Problems or not, it is still the Big 10 and Oregon St has basically no conference.
It will be interesting when the numbers come out. He's a solid coach that runs a pro style offense and has a record of reviving a dead program. They'll need to give him time, though.True, but there will be better jobs opening up soon. He should have waited.
I will admit I did not.I agree. You do realize it was intentional, right?
I’m insane not dumb, although that’s up for debate also.I will admit I did not.
Your predictions on which better jobs open up?True, but there will be better jobs opening up soon. He should have waited.
Like him as well.Dang. He was on my short list of potential KF successors. Great hire for Sparty. For our sakes, I hope he's not as successful as I suspect he will be...
Most of his staff moving with him.Great news for MSU. Currently OSU RB is best in the PAC, their TE is tied for the lead in the country in touchdowns, and their OL is a Joe Moore semifinalist.
Chiles, Velling, a couple OL, and Sappington would be some strong followers.Special Teams coach, too. We know the kicker committed to OSU. Sounds like he may follow to MSU.
It really does. If they can somehow scrap together the PAC throgh the MWC it'll be a long rebuild. OSU caught lightning in a bottle with Smith and unfortunately now they can't afford him.Really sucks for Oregon St. Them and Wash St getting totally F’d in this realignment.
